Ending Explained (Ofcourse Spoilers)

The summary is that Rose was killed by Mary (when she was young). She started calling Mary because she wanted to remind Mary that she has killed her in the past. She waited because she wanted Mary to know why she is killing her.
Rose who lives in past can control future where Mary is living now, she can kill anyone in the past and whole future will fall accordingly.
Like Rose killed John (who started to interfere in future) and the next scene we see that he was died at very young age and even his grave is present, similarly Mary was shown burnt and the next scene we see old pictures of her sitting with nurse and her mom with bandages. So, the future was altered.

Mary even tried to kill Rose again in the past by searching old accident news of bowling alley where 17 people killed and she tried to send Rose there, but Rose missed the bus and was saved.
The last phone call was between Rose and Mary in which Mary guides herself in the past to kill Rose back then to end it all.
In the end Mary kills Steven and bury him in the wall, probably she will be next Rose.

My question is why does Mary think she can kill her ex and get away with it especially since it has nothing to do with her past.

I'm glad Jennifer Hudson lost weight but the commercials are every two minutes ...WE GET IT!

no.... a bit confusion of the general idea.

it goes like that:

Rose is calling the appartment because she used to live there and is looking for her husband, there's time glitch.
she NEVER MET MARY BEFORE.

they start talking. when they talk, the future changes so that Rose doesnt kill herself like she was supposed to.

the photos of Mary's childhood change also because after Rose talked to her, she became obssesed and tracked her down in her time - meaning - when Mary was a child. she started following her around.

Rose kills her husband after talking to Mary, because Mary is encouraging her into not being submisive, and take controll over her life. ofcourse, she didnt know the woman is crazy...

when Mary realises that Rose is dangerous, she tries to stay away and not talk to her anymore, even tries to kill her in the past (the fire), but nothing works. Rose only gets more upset and finds ways to revenge. Mary is helpless and can do nothing. then Rose takes young Mary and burns her.

after losing her BF, and being burned by past Rose, things are going out of controll. when Rose kidnaps Mary and wants to kill her, Mary is telling her child-self to kill Rose. so then, Mary kills Rose. this is all happening in the past, but as we could see, the past alters the future.

Mary now is a KILLER. she killed when she was just a child. she is different now. when her abusive husband comes now, she is no longer the old Mary, because she is now the Mary that has killed a woman when she was a kid. so , she kills him.

unaware, she has turned into a killer and a crazy person, because of what Rose did to her.

Exactly, really isn't that complicated.

Except that her ex would be aware that she was not as passive as he likes his women and would at least be more cautious around her, assuming he still married her at all.

Remember though that Mary keeps her original memories, not those of the altered timeline. She remembered having a pantry when she moved into the house, for example.

She never gained the memories of the child Mary who was burned, and who then killed Rose. Mary PRETENDS to have memories of the burned child, in order to draw Rose to the bowling alley.

Mary hasn't changed because she now killed a woman as a child. But you're right that she HAS changed, because of the experience of dealing with Rose and this supernatural situation. That put her in the right frame of mind to kill her ex, especially since the situation just got a whole lot worse--they're still married. She gets her second change at killing him instead of walking out!

But how do you explain, in the very end, when she was building the wall, why she sang odes to Bobby which was Rose's man/husband, was she possessed by the spirit of Rose ultimately, or had she just gone insane?

reply
