tae-chan...why...?

I dont understand why tae-chan is targeted by gantz while the other 3 targeted people were (i don't know how to say it in english) 'graduated' from gantz (including the little black balled hot chick -the killer)

so,... anybody?

-oh, I love this movie (but it lacks something -i dunno) and the manga(japanese comic)too.

and I want more....

(first sorry if my English sounds REALLY bad :S)

Well, Gantz targeted Tae-Chan because Kurono was the best player in the game, so Gantz didn't want to take the risk and let Kurono exit the game.

So killing Tae-Chan will (in the reasoning of Gantz) make Kurono stay in the game and fight to gather points to save her.

More, remember that the "ex players" that Gantz take back are the "best ex players", no "any random ex player".

Hope that makes any sense :)

I disagree ale_rm.

I think that GANTZ targeted Tae-Chan because killing Tae-Chan would finish the mission on the little GANTZ sphere and allow access to the room. GANTZ didn't want the aliens to do this and decided to get the players to kill Tae-Chan before the aliens could do, in order to prevent the aliens from completing the 4th mission and obtaining the key.

I disagree with your theory because:

1) Since Tae-Chan was not a player in the first place, Kurono would not be able to revive her anyway according to the rules of the game.

2) GANTZ heard Kurono say that he intends to keep playing and keep earning 100 points in order to revive all the deceased players. There was no danger of Kurono quitting the game.

This is one thing that bugged me, it seemed very established that you could only revive someone who had been a player in Gantz. And yet the middle-aged character with glasses (I apologize for not remembering his name) kept going on about how he was going to resurrect his deceased wife. Huh? Did he not even know the rules of Gantz?

reply

My friends and I also went WTF? when Suzuki was talking about resurrecting his deceased wife. Either he does not know the rules of Gantz or this is another fail by the movie.

The second film was just a trainwreck. I could care less why tae-chan was targeted.

HOWEVER

Did Oku ever explain why she was targeted in the manga?

reply

I actually really liked the sequel, except for a few lame plot holes/hiccups like Suzuki trying to resurrect his wife. Call me a mindless action junkie but the whole subway sequence was extremely satisfying.

That is why Gantz sent all of the players that were brought back to kill Tae. However, that doesn't explain why she showed up on the little black ball in the first place. Only players that had previously gotten 100 points were targeted initially. If Gantz hadn't put Tae on the little Gantz ball in the first place, then the whole team would have been free to go after fake Kato. It would make more sense to make fake Kato the last on the little Gantz ball's list. That way
Eriko goes after fake Kato and likely gets killed thus putting her back in the game. Fake Kato would still have the little Gantz ball, but couldn't use it because he was the last target. Now all of the best Gantz fighters attack an enemy together instead of having to divide their focus between attacking each other and fighting the aliens.
