One of the most unintelligent pieces of work ever.

And by 'unintelligent' I mean just absolutely awful. Japan has just about no real actors or directors, and watching this made that even more clear.
Gantz is, honestly, a crappy and really pointless show(the manga too), but this movie makes the anime look like a masterpiece. Also, I should mention that the whole thing looked like a youtube video.
Everyone involved with this vomit should commit seppuku. I'm astonished that no one's brought it to Japan's attention that their contemporary live-action movies(most of their animated movies nowadays too) are worse than garbage.

Thank you..And Goodnight.

Actually, even with their design choices, writing and directing in mind...no modern animated Japanese film is even close to as bad as this.

I don't understand why Ryuhei Kitamura didn't direct this... he would have been perfect.

This film is not a good representation of contemporary Japanese film, which actually has a lot of very good entries. To say that they have "no real actors or directors" is massively stupid and I'm wondering how many films you've seen.

Here is a very short list to start with:

The Hidden Blade (2004)
Love Exposure (2008)
The Letter (2006)
Swing Girls (2004)
Hana No Ato (2010)
Space Travelers (2000)
Waiting in the Dark (2006)
Fine, Totally Fine (2008)
Josee, the Tiger, and the Fish (2003)
Seagull Diner (2006)
Summer Time Machine Blues (2005)
Green Minds, Metal Bats (2006)
Electric Dragon 80000v (2001)
Dog in a Sidecar (2007)
Stranger of Mine (2005)
Antenna (2004)

The movie sucked but the manga was awesome. And most of JPN's animated movies nowadays are crap? Summer Wars isn't a masterpiece but it would always be better than anything Michael Bay churns out anytime.

The manga is much better. The show was somewhat of a failure to me due to the horrible animation, music and alien Kurono arc. Although the movie was ok. It is hard to adapt manga into a live action movie especially this one. They pulled off Tanaka alien really well. I thought it was going to be really lame or were going to dump that mission all together. I wanted the buddist fight to go for longer coz this was suppose to be their most desperate hour. I wanted Kato to save Kurono like he did in the anime/manga but made Kato look like a loser. Anyway, it was still a solid movie. Not great but solid.
