Should have left it in Japanese w/ subs

I really wish they had just left Gantz in the original Japanese version (which I assume it exists in this form), instead of dubbing it with the IMO "sloppily" unenthusiastic transcribed English voice-overs. Personally, I can't speak Japanese, but I don't mind reading English subtitles. Some may argue that by having to read the subtitles in English, they may might miss out on some of the visuals and effects, but I honestly think it would have been much better in the originial Japanese, with English subtitles.

I really hope that "Hollywood" don't try and re-make this, and make a complete balls of it.

There was no problem with watching films like "Battle Royale" (both 1 & 2) in Japanese with English subtitles, so I don't see why this would have been a problem.

Anyhow, I am looking forward to see how Part II transpires, and if they must insist (which I know they will) on doing it dubbed in English, I just hope that the English dubbing will be a bit more enthusiastic, engaging and captivating.

Just my 2 cents...

totally agree, i've looking for the jap version for days, but no luck, there were a few sites, that said dual audio, but was a waste of time..., anyway, i coudn't finish the entire movie(i'll continue it later) but what i saw, i can say it's awesome.

They didn't do a good job with the voice casting, but I'd take dub over sub mainly because I don't understand Japanese and don't want to have to read subtitles if I don't have to.

I agree as well. I thought the effects were good, but the pathetic voiceovers kinda spoiled it. I'm hoping to find a copy in original with subtitles. I did the same a few years ago with "Returner". Loved the movie, but the voiceovers ruined it. Watched it in Japanese with subtitles, & it was infinitely better.

It's only a matter of time before the Americans bastardise it!!

i'm so glad it's a norm for my country to stick with the original language of the foreign films screened here

I'd rather have a bad dub then have annoying japanese voices.

Also who I'd rather not read when watching a movie.

I have a copy with Japanese audio and English subs. I wouldn't watch a dubbed film if you paid me - unless it is a film like the Miyazaki anime, where it doesn't matter so much.

I saw this about 10 days ago at the cinema in Japanese with English subs. It appears I am in the minority being able to enjoy it this way.

reply

Maybe in the minority but not alone. I wouldn't watch a dubbed film even if you paid me. I can't even bear to watch dubbed anime.
