she end up in the trunk exactly? I had a feeling she was in the car, but expected her to be in the back seat or something, did she put herself in the trunk?

It's not too big of a leap to assume that she probably put herself in there when the main character's brother went into the bar for a brief time.

Just before the brother comes out of the bar, you see the car's trunk close.
