Minnie Driver and James Nesbitt in this rubbish-why?

I saw that Minnie Driver and James Nesbitt were both in this series and so decided to watch it. Oh Dear-what were they both thinking of. They are normally both pretty reliable but this is complete tosh.No suspense, no tension, poor dialogue, no chemistry between the actors, sterotypical characters-yet there could have been a decent story there if handled by a better Director. Having said that, I will watch it to the end just to see if it does get better.

I actually think Minnie Driver is making this show worse. She is absolutly awful in it and it is amazing to think she has decades of good Hollywood service behind her.

Also Nesbitt is hardly near his Murphy's Law levels.

They drove dump trucks filled with money to Minnie and James' houses.

Weirdly enough, Minnie Driver and James Nesbitt are the worst actors in this!

Maybe none of them have ever done any green screen work before?

Really? I think I can see Nesbitt struggling with the dialogue sometimes, but I reckon that guy is amazing at making almost any character believable. And I don't think this is any exception.
Would it be fair to say that his acting ramps up to his normal standard further into the series? I believe so. Personally I think Nesbitt is the best thing about this show. But then, I do have a man-crush on the guy so maybe I'm just blind.

I disagree... Although Nesbitt is extraordinarily dislikeable, I think he plays a believable nobhead in this program... And Minnie Driver is fine too... Possibly it takes watching a few for it to grow on one? I didn't really like them/the whole program until I'd watched the first 3... Then I realised I like it... Tis good.

Maybe Minnie Driver just wanted to be the lead actor in something, and not some roncom tosh like most actresses are dumped in. Lets face it in Hollywood its hard to get decent roles if you are a woman:( and after 30? forget it:(
As for Nesbit who knows he is a a awkward time in his career. bit to big for TV but has not broken in to film.Just wants to keep his face on screen somewhere I reckon.

Driver was far from convincing as a submarine captain and Nesbitt tends to be a lightweight.

Its that man again!!

I agree OP. I like both Minnie Driver and James Nesbitt, but this apart from the production values was awful, very dull, repetitive and bland with poor writing, a laughable ending and I did not like how the story and characters were written. Sadly, neither Driver or Nesbitt were that good either, they struggled with their material and characters and seemed to be going through the motions, especially Driver.

Maybe they hadn't finished the scripts when the actors signed on. It seemed like a really cool idea... but it didn't work. Unfortunately.
