Just saw it

I saw this since it was playing near me. I had no expectations because the trailer was horrible, and it was pretty bad but not as bad as I thought it would be. The movie actually got better as it went on, and the ending was actually very good, but it's not worth waiting the 70 minutes to get to the good stuff. Everything else just hit all those generic exorcism flick marks and never did anything interesting with them. If you have any questions, I'll answer them.

It's definitely not worth the ticket price, but I wouldn't say completely skip it if you like this type of movie.

Just saw it. The ending was awsome...tho the 1st 30min gave me cancer.

There was an ending? I was waiting for the battle to begin with Djimon Honsou leading the charge but the movie just ended. Now I know why it has such a *beep* rating. Plus the movie is only about 80 minutes long (credits count for about 11 minutes of the 1 hr 31 minutes listed). Where's the rest of it?

So I will be spending some $$ for this and well, it's between this and The Gallows.

About the ending: I LOVE unexpected, everyone-dies, unhappy endings. How does this hold up? Is it a... "logical" type of ending, where it didn't feel rushed? Does all the plot-points come together?

And how about the deliverance of the film? No "annoying characters?" Characters aren't too cliched? I don't mind unoriginal type characters and plots, just as long as the performance is good.

I guess what is turning me off from seeing The Gallows is everyone's criticism of the annoying characters/teens.

I'll be spending near $70 for these tickets (yes, I'm the one stuck in buying the group tickets because it's my turn now lol).

And I do love exorcist-type films. I really really loved the Emily Rose one, even though everyone seemed to hate it. I am not a movie snob by any means :)

The Gallows was a lot better than The Vatican Tapes.

Ahhh okay. I think I probably will enjoy the premise more, too. The Gallows looks interesting in terms of the backstory. I just hope the characters are not THAT annoying.

reply

Well what do you expect from a bunch of teenagers? I didn't find them that annoying, only one character aggravated me a little. The Vatican Tapes is just a generic exorcism movie, while The Gallows gets pretty intense and has an atmosphere like Grave Encounters.

reply

The Gallows is awful,no scares whatsoever. This film isn't great but it's way better than The Gallows.

By Odin's beard! They were both a piece of sloppy written turd, but to me The Gallows take the stale cake.

Sure. The whole movie plays out as a typical possession flick and then it turns out that the girl isn't possessed, she's actually the AntiChrist. The Cardinal overseeing the exorcism realizes this fact, and tries to kill her. In turn she kills him and her dad and boyfriend. She leaves the Priest played by Pena alive, to inform the Vatican that the false Messiah walks on earth. Cut to scenes of her on t.v performing miracles, appearing like an innocent prophet. Not a bad movie actually, though a bit tedious in getting to the point. Definitely follows the Catholic view of The book of Revelations and its description of the coming of the AntiChrist.

thanks a lot :)

That's an awesome ending but if the whole movie is *beep* besides the ending I'm not wasting my time.
