FOXTEL GREENLIGHTS SECOND SERIES OF SPIRITED FOR W CHANNEL

Shooting Feb 2011 with Claudia Karvan, Matt King and Rodger Corser

FOXTEL today announced pre-production is underway on the second season of the escapist and romantic Australian drama series Spirited, with stars Claudia Karvan, Matt King and Rodger Corser set to reunite for the eight episode shoot in February 2011.

Spirited is an Australian exclusive commission for the W Channel. The first series is premiering Wednesdays at 7.30pm AEST, with the final episode to air on October 13.

Karvan is also producing the Spirited series with Jacquelin Perske, who conceived the original idea and heads the writing department.

"I am over the moon about the re-order of Spirited and looking forward to shooting again with the talented cast," says Karvan.

"This show took us all in such a surprising direction and the story ideas for series two are just as unexpected, exciting and impossibly romantic as Suzy and Henry fight to be together. It's great to be working with FOXTEL again on this series."

In Spirited, AFI, TV WEEK Logie and ASTRA Award winning actress Karvan plays Suzy Darling, a socially awkward dentist and mother of two, whose ordered existence has taken an unexpected turn since she started living with the ghost of British punk rock star Henry Matt (King). Meanwhile, Suzy's soon to be ex-husband Steve (Corser) divides his time between sabotaging his ex-wife's attempts at independence and concocting plans to woo her back.

King is back in the UK, with the sitcome he co-wrote, 'Whites', set to premiere on BBC 2 this week. 'Whites' stars Alan Davies (Jonathan Creek, QI) as a chef and draws from some of King's experiences working in kitchens before establishing his career as a comedian, actor and writer. King is also back in character as Super Hans in the midst of shooting the seventh season of the BAFTA-winning comedy Peep Show for Channel 4.

Corser is currently starring in the third season of the Australia police drama Rush on Network Ten.

Other Spirited cast members returning for the season season include Belinda Bromlilow as Suzy's sister Jonquil and Louis Fowler and Charlie Hancock as Suzy and Steve's children Elvis and Verity.

The shoot of the second series of Spirited will get underway in Sydney in February, with John Edwards as executive producer for the Southern Star Entertainment and Kim Vecera as executive producer for FOXTEL. Their previous joint producation with Karvan and Perske was the highly-acclaimed subscription television drama Love My Way.

Just read on Matt King's twitter that he and his family will arrive in Sydney in January to prepare for filming!

Just watched the last episode and I really didn’t want it to end. Can’t wait to see what happens next. But I do worry that they will run out of ideas, because where do you go from here?

I did think that the announcement of a second series should have waited until after the final episode of series one had aired. Knowing that there would be another series meant that we knew Henry would be back, which did take away a lot of the suspense in the final episode. I loved this series, looking forward to more.

I completely agree. I was disappointed that I knew he was going to come back or something along those lines, but I still enjoyed the series though. Excited for more!
