Why did the BIL want to kill his wife with cement? At first I thought she was dead, he checked her pulse, and she was dead, so he was covering it up. But then it turns out she wasn't dead? WTF? So that means he really wanted to kill her?

It would have been a better movie if she was dead, even if we didn't really care for her character. I mean, it would have been better than it being so confusing as it is now.

Next, why did they have to buy the van back???

he THOUGHT shew was dead.. and from that point on he never checks again. he is in shock and gets high.. .

the chick is knocked out, lowering her pulse and blood pressure.
and HIM being shock and not a doctor ;in panic mod ,misses that fact if he knew it at all ..

Alright...the director should have made sure the actor showed that more explicitly however. And why did they need to buy the van back?

They foreshadowed that during the wedding, talking about how they smuggled the Ferrari. Strip it, leave a frame - Customs comes and impounds it and it's eventually sold at auction. You buy a cheap Ferrari frame, and then the smugglers put it all back together again.

The container the van was in belonged to a dead guy - nobody claimed the van, so it went to auction. They bought it back because the Jackson Pollock "tarp" was still in it.
