Beginning animation

I found it incredibly moving.

It shows the progression from one coca plant to harvesting, manufacturing, packaging and delivery. The animation is stunning and the music haunting. What really gets me is how it's set against a gorgeous jungle background full of orchids and beautiful birds. Then it shows farmers harvesting and loading leaves onto trucks where it's taken to a little village where everyone gets together for processing and packaging. But in the distance you can hear machine guns. It really drives home how all this beauty and innocence sets the stage for how it all starts.

I'd love to get more info on this animated segment. It's a heartbreaker. What really got me was the picture of the old farmer waving as the truck took off. Little did he know....

Agree with you entirely. However I didnt understand the opening until after I had watched the documentary. To be honest I had fast forwarded it initially. What moved me when I watched it again was the person who was treading on the plant in the press, and either they are scratched or he picks up an infection and yet he has to continue- well that's my interpretation of it any way.
