The bigger the criminal..

The bigger the criminal, the more films and books will be written about them.. no one cares about positive images of role models & leaders, we all seem attracted to the violent ruthless types who take what they want, and many escape punishment (ie, the Zodiac killer, 'D.B. Cooper', the man who got a ransom and parachuted away in Oregon, never to be seen again)

IF man is truly made in God's image, then we have a criminal boss as a creator apparently.. the greed, materialism, and self-centered egotism of the human race will be our self-destruction..

The fact that this son of a devil is walking around free is proof there is no justice, as his entire family surely helped hide Escobar, why were they not all imprisoned as well?

Corruption rules the world - if YOU are happy in this mess, then you are either psychotic or brain-damaged.

Forgive him? I'd rather beat him with a blunt object..

My only regret in life is that I'm not someone else - Woody Allen

The reality is the biggest problem with the world is negation. Our moral constructs and even language deny and negate aspects of the human psyche that just end up coming out sideways in destructive ways.

Modern society = institutional culture that seeks to treat humans like cogs in a machine. It makes most people sick and crazy especially if you look at the profits of the other drug trafficking trade, big Pharma. If you don't fit in to this crazy, stretched thin, and destructive mainstream "civilized" culture than you are branded deviant or crazy and that actually makes people deviant and crazy for real.

The reality is if we created more outlets for different types of people than the college road to success which is mainly b.s and doesn't really teach you anything you wouldn't learn on the job or in an apprenticeship (baring things like enginnering or mathematics) then we would have fewer criminals. Look at the rate of incarceration in the US and look at how college has to be privately paid for. The two are connected.

Your moral condemnation is just fantasy from the human mind. The natural world could care less about how anyone thinks the world should turn. If you repress energy in any animal, especially the human animal, it comes out way worse. Study anything by Carl Jung on this topic.

Thanks for the angry rant, but you should watch movies before commenting on them if you want anyone to take you seriously.

There are plenty of movies that leech off the hype of infamous and terrible people, but this isn't one of them. In other words, it's a real documentary, not a sensationalized "factual" TV program. People lump the two categories together but there is actually a huge difference.

This movie provides proper and balanced historical context- not taking the side of Escobar, nor his enemies, per se. And the reason this movie rally excelled (and also the reason I know you didn't watch it) is the incredible story of redemption, forgiveness and reconciliation that it tells using Escobar's son (who goes by a different name now) and the sons of two leading Colombian politicians who were both killed by Escobar and his regime.

In fact, the movie ends with Sebastian MarroquĂn (Escobar's son) saying that the youth that look up to Escobar are wrong to do so, and that if they knew the real story, they wouldn't celebrate his legacy at all.

The sons in this film appear to be really stand up people, wise beyond their years, and genuinely committed to a peaceful way forward for Columbia. They are inspiring, just as this film ultimately is as well.
