The cop * spoiler questions*

I had to leave the room for a few minutes and I missed why the cop was dismissed. Also, I don't think he was involved in the kidnapping, but how did he know to throw the carpet back and reveal the door handle? Thanks to anyone that can help me out.

reply

I didn't get why he was dismissed, either, but he heard the girl knocking on the floor, which lead him to discover the secret trap door.

Ahh,thanks! I saw the letter at the end saying he was dismissed for excessive stress or something to that effect, but I never saw him exhibit anything like that. I'm hoping HBO plays this again soon, I seem to be in the minority that actually enjoyed this sad little film.

The old newspaper clipping about a violent crime that he's holding, obviously upset, showed that he's on the edge. Don't recall the relationship - wife, sister, mother, ...

The newspaper clipping was his wife's obituary. Here's what it said:

Lindsay Granger 1981-2008 Victim of Violent Crime

Lindsay Granger, 27, died Thursday, October 23, 2008, after surviving six days in intensive care at Valley Memorial. Mrs. Granger was the victim of an apparent sexual assault and robbery in the Fairfax district that left her in a coma from which she never awakened. Mrs. Granger is survived by her husband of 8 months, Jerry Granger. Services will be held Saturday, October 25, at 6 pm at Church of the Sacred Heart on Sepulveda Blvd.
