Big Deal about not much

So, the "star" of the film - Rodleen Getsic (Get sick - get it?) - who has Getsic tattooed all up and down her arm, has been knocking around the "Alternate Culture" scene for a while (check her bio on Wikipedia) - decides she wants to create some controversy to boost her cred and pocketbook. So she gets together with her buddy who does some decent artsy cinematography and they decide to "Shock the unshockable". She figures one of them neat brandings that all the hipster kids are getting and shaving her head will give a psychic gut-punch to all those "artistes" with tender sensibilities.

Get some scary-looking Biker trucker guy to tie her up and yell at her - as she screams "LET ME GO!!!" for about an hour - while the Director/Editor/Cameraman/Co-screenwriter trots out all the fancy techniques he picked up in film school.

Ultimately the Bunny Game comes off pretty much unbearably dull and tedious.

Does anybody notice that this tortured raped victim - who is giving "the bravest performance for her art" - never drops her White panties until about the last 10 minutes. Let me repeat. She has been wearing WHITE panties for 5 days of being brutally traumatized. I think that during all the scary torture/rape stuff they would have likely come off,or at least wouldnt have stayed WHITE for too long. In fact, it seemed that after the scary trucker psycho-rapist cuts off her hooker clothes with his scary knife - he dressed her in a white nightgown and panties. I am not sure that most rapist/psycopaths provide this type of service to their victims.

And I didnt find it very believable that this old greasy trucker dude would rather brand his victims with some nifty gothic symbol, than engage in anything you would generally associate with rapists.

I just get the feeling that for all her "Daring" - Ms. Getsic is really kind of a prude. She doesnt seem to mind giving head - just like Chloe Sevigny in that other "Bunny" film - but she is a little shy about revealing her own anatomy. Besides wearing clean white undies during most of her ordeal - you see in the beginning of the film when she is looking at herself in the bathroom mirror, and she reflexively covers herself with her hand. I dont think many crack whores really care too much about flashing their crotch. At least the actress in the flashback had the decency to "lose her clothes" when being "tortured to death"

All in all - the cinematography was kind of nice, but this film did not really cut it as far as being shocking, daring or all that interesting. I don't support censorship- so the fact that the UK banned this film makes me mad in principle, but the Brits are really being done a favor.

If you want to see a really messed up film about senseless torture that actually works as horror- go see "Funny Games" instead. Hey - did you notice that this title kinda rhymes with that one?

Agreed. Just seemed like some 'alternative' wanted to try and be considered extreme. Seriously, at 38 aren't you a little too old to be trying to rebel against your parents and 'society'?

Very tame film.

I still put the fun back into funerals.

It doesn't just kinda rhyme with it, it does rhyme with it.

I just watched the trailer and from what it showed, it did look pretty tame, common, pointless and boring. I see worse/more creative stuff on Tumblr. It looked like a music video for annoying music.

Oh well; I've still got a few more in this list of films that are banned in the US (already went through the other countries) to go through. Hopefully I'll find something interesting in here.
