MovieChat Forums > The Bunny Game (2012) Discussion > Banned in the UK and Ireland

The film hasn't been submitted to the Irish censors (the Republic of Ireland is a separate country, with its own flag and everything) but I suspect that they would also follow suit by making the film Prohibited in Ireland. A refusal in Australia sounds very likely too if the BBFC's press release anything to go by.

Original link did not work; this one does.

I cannot imagine why this film was banned in the U.K. It only gave the movie tons of publicity and notoriety.

Personally, from a woman's POV, I thought A Clockwork Orange, Straw Dogs, Salo, and Irreversible (to name just 4 movies) were much more disturbing and frightening in their treatment of women than The Bunny Game.

reply

With those four films, though, the violence against the women is only a part of the film, and in context. With The Bunny Game (which I haven't yet seen, mind) it seems like it's the basic plot of the film.

This forum is afraid of me. I have seen its true face.

^Unless you are a woman and unless and until you see the movie, I feel you cannot comment on my comment.

This movie isnt even good to fap to.

I might be a man, but I just watched the whole film. I'm also a pretty open-minded man, at that.

To be honest, I'm not sure what to make of your comment. Can you elaborate on how Bunny Game differs from Salo/Straw Dogs/Irreversible/Clockwork Orange? I think I can see what you are going for, but why don't you clarify so there aren't any mistakes?

I think I can see what you are going for

Then I don't need to elaborate further.

Stirchley - I would agree with you completely, except I am a man, and therefore not entitled to an opinion.

That's cute, but since you're a woman, your comment on his comment doesn't count.

I think violence against anyone is bad. I don't how when women get sexually abused in films it's taboo but when men get abused it's perfectly ok to allowed it to be released! *beep* irritates me that does! "Oh Violence against women!" Get over it!

reply

LMAO..Films still get banned? Yea, that's effective. I guess they've never heard of this thing called the internet.

That it was banned was the sole reason I bothered to watch it. What a waste of time. Utterly terrible. Ranks as the 2nd worst movie I've ever seen (Death Tunnel is #1) and I both watch tons of films and am very charitable. I can only imagine this film was created as a sheer money grab. It hasn't got an ounce of soul.
