Message Boards Going Away

Apparently, IMDB is closing down all of its message boards on February 20, 2017.

I will miss the ANONYMOUS board if this goes away. The IMDB discussion board was the one good thing about that horrible film.

Me too. Well, it has all been very interesting. I wish good fortune to all the regulars here who have comported themselves with good sense, goodwill and good manners over the years. (The rest can stay as they are.)

reply

Well it was fun but let's face it, the Anonymous board has been dead for at least a year. If you're still interested, there's a Facebook 'Oxfraud' group for discussing the authorship non-issue

1 mark deducted for not being Curse of Fenric. Insert 'The' into previous if you are Ant-Mac

Another Oxfordian playground grimly reaped. Just one week left to get on blueghost's Ignore list.

The children will soon have nowhere to play all.

But will there be anywhere else where we can gush / carp / argue about great, good and not-so-good stuff on the box?? Literary adaptations and other such stuff???

This is their big mistake. There are other sources of movie information but only one imdb.

I'll miss you babe but I've just got the second series of A very peculiar Practice to console me.

I'm not the only one on his way round to your house. Wherever did you find that?

reply

It was on Amazon for less than a tenner, I was quite pleased but sadly, the coda, A Very Polish Practice was forgettable. I've got Nice Work on order but no sign of Small World I'm afraid.

They lie through their teeth.

They'll be sorry. What they actually mean is that the boards are hard to monetise and they can make more by following an FB/twitter stream model where it's much easier to target users based on the huge amount of individual data available to developers. But it'll only work if they stop giving people what they want and enjoy, and force something worse on them.

It should give Wikipedia a boost, the talk pages are sometimes more interesting than the articles.
