Clean water?

The scene where Aaron catches the whisperer contaminating the water.....got me to thinking.

What would the communities do about clean water? How would they "process" their water before drinking it? I suppose I'm getting too "in the weeds" with regards to a show about zombies. However, I'd think just the clean water issue alone would create a MAJOR problem very quickly in a ZA.

Also, shouldn't Aaron have been very alarmed about witnessing someone contaminating their local water source? Maybe that will be addressed more in up-coming episodes...

I wondered that as well. Instead he gave her a bandage.

Boil and filter through any clothing material. Can be done several times. Also a lot of plants can detoxify water impurities.

Yeah, well that could be why everyone is getting sick. It's kind of crazy to think there are bugs going around. For a local population without people coming and going from all over the world it is unlikely than any new bugs would show up, at least frequently.

There was a show on years ago that was kind of a survivalist show, where they took a group of people who were interested and had them live together in a place that was supposed to be post-apocalyptic. Some of them knew a lot about how to survive and create technology.

One thing they did was to heat wood until it gave off gas and then ran their cars on that since there was no gas. Another was water purification. The first layer of a filter was a big sand filter that took out all the solids. Then a charcoal filter, and then boiled it.

It was an interesting show, but the people could not get along and were always arguing and bickering.

I was starting to wonder from last night's episode if the "bug" is the result of the water contamination as well.

Yeah. This is what infuriates me about the writing. If they'd shown everyone getting sick and have it be some mystery for a while, that's fine. But showing us that Aaron saw shitty mask whisperer dumping Zs in the water before hand and then not immediately reporting it. Wtf? And not even being in the next episode...I can imagine in the next ep they'll all be sitting around racking their brains wondering what's up and then Aaron chimes in "duh, I did see a whisperer dumping a body in the stream, duh. Could that be the cause? duh".

Also, I take it that stream is part of the border so no one's in trouble for crossing?

Probably rely on rain water
