Toddler Judith and present day 10 year old Judith look too different

Cause as a little toddler she has blonde curly hair, but the older 10 year old Judith has straight brown hair, and she just has a completely different face. I know you can't find an exact match to look just like the younger Judith but i feel like they could have made a better effort. Cause its just been what? 5 years after those flashbacks? and she looks like a completely different kid.

They could've at least tried to get her hair to match the younger Judith's.

Cailey Fleming is a great little actress don't get me wrong, its just when you see the younger Judith and the older Judith in the same episode its kinda hard to suspend ur disbelief and think thats the same kid.

I can't say I really care if she looks like the younger random girl they got to play her, but I'll repeat what I said a while back about Judith being supposedly Shane's daughter: their casting choices certainly don't support that possibility. The girl playing her now is like a little replica of Andy Lincoln.

If you've ever watched Orange Is The New Black and seen the younger versions of the inmates they cast for flashbacks, they're amazing and look exactly like younger versions of the adults. Then you see the casting for Judith and its like they didn't even try.

Same thing happened to Carl, the older Carl looked nothing like the kid that used to play him.

reply

I'm not sure if you're being sarcastic but Carl was never ever recast

reply

Lmao.

reply

LOL!

reply

Woosh! Straight over these kiddies heads lol.

Does it really matter if younger Judith doesn’t look like older Judith?

reply

No.

Films are notorious for casting kid actors who look nothing like the adult actors they are supposed to play as children. My own favorite example of wildly inconsistent casting is in the film-- The White Cliffs of Dover. Roddy McDowell and Elizabeth Taylor grow up to be (are you ready?) Peter Lawford and June Lockhart! https://youtu.be/nzukmS4-s5o?t=6854

Agreed, it helped make a confusing episode even more confusing.

reply

I’m glad you found it confusing because I had no idea what was going on lol. How did Daz escape and choke that guy?

Hair color changes all the time especially by becoming darker. Texture can change too although that's less frequent. Cailey Fleming's acting in the last episode was amazing. I think it would be more jarring to hire a different actress to play younger Judith instead of the one who had been playing her.

My little brother's hair went through a similar color change; when he was small it was blond, but eventually turned a light brown shade. Kindergarten age Judith and 10 year old Judith have different looking faces though. I happen to think Cailey was the perfect choice - she looks just like a mini Sarah Wayne Callies, you can totally believe she's Lori's daughter. As for the whole Shane vs. Rick debate they have no DNA tests anymore so there's no way to be certain whose daughter Judith is. I think based on the timing Rick decided the baby was more likely Shane's than his. But how could you know for sure?

reply

Well, the thing is, the way they presented it on the show, it looked like Rick was in a coma for a few months into the apocalypse, but in reality he wouldn't have survived more than a week without someone being there to switch out his IV the whole time.

I suppose it was left deliberately uncertain.

reply

In that world you could never be certain. No more 23 & Me.

You know, I was thinking the same thing, that the last few people trying to keep patients alive couldn't have been gone for more than a few days when Rick woke up. The generator was still operating to have those flickering lights. And who knows? That badly chewed up woman Rick saw through the glass, just lying in the hallway, might've been his nurse. It sounds like he was in the hospital for maybe 2 months tops. Hard to tell though. About all they said definitively in the pilot episode was that the gas service where Morgan was staying had been off for about a month.

Interesting trivia

The actress that plays Judith was in Force Awakens. When Rey has a mental flashback of herself as a child getting abducted or grabbed, that child is the actress that plays Judith.

Judith is a Jedi
