Why do we watch this show?

I will be honest, I do not like the show I watched the show as it aired and premiered S1, and hold it until S4 ( I think it was when the writers manifested and stopped production on a bunch of TV Shows in Hollywood). Then stopped and watched a few episodes of S5 with my dad and find it so boring I quit for good.

Now, I'm curious as for why do you guys watch it? Is it because you love the characters? Is it because it has a good story? Or perhaps because of the zombies? (which really are not a thread anymore and yes I get it that that's the point now, humans are they're own worst enemies)

I am not trying to bash the show whatsoever I am just curious as for why followers of the show keep watching.

Yeah, I am familiar with this term.

However, I was more curious as for why people that enjoy the show watch it, for what perspective do they like the show (in love with a character, because of zombies, because of human relationships and synergies within a group etc.)

I was just on my way here to make a similar thread.
My answer is - I don't know.
Maybe I cling to the past, where the show was actually good and suspenseful.
Maybe I'm an idiot who doesn't appreciate her time by wasting it on this series.

I'm 8:50 minutes into the mid-season premiere and I couldn't give a shit.
Everything is making me cringe.

I still liked it up until seasons 7 & 8....
But after that it didn't have enough characters left that I loved to rescue it from the most abysmal writing ever .
I had stopped watching those seasons and gave it a try again this past season..

It's a shame that the writing does seem better now that there's hardly anyone left to care about.
So basically I'm still watching out of curiosity to see what they're going to do..
I wouldn't bother to hate watch.

If you watch a TV show for long enough, it becomes part of your routine.

You watch it, despite it being bad, so you can see how the story ends.

Its not like there are lots of better shows to watch, besides its still not that bad(yet).

TV is the vast electronic wasteland ... even You-Tube videos are better than most TV. I like PBS.
