C*** maybe Dead......(spoiler)

.. I think at one point they said it wasn't going to happen. Glad they did it. Keeps the material fresh from the comic..

reply

Yeah...everyone dies and nobody cares. By the end they'll only have new characters no one knows or cares about.
About like now.

reply

Same with Lost and Battlestar Galactica....everyone died. That's where this show is going....oh well..

reply

Kinda different...Most everyone died at the end of LOST...and same with BG.

He's not a great actor and probably won't do that much else..but he's never deserved all the ragging he gets.
I think he always sold being Rick's son...and I don't think killing him off will turn out to be a good idea.
Not unless you care nothing for the characters at all and just want to watch moronic zombies shuffle around.

reply

Would have been better if he died at the beginning of last season. THAT would have been keeping it fresh....Waiting until the very last minutes of a long tedious mid-season finale isn't fresh....

reply

I reckon everyone's fed up with hearing Andrew Lincoln calling him 'Coral!'

reply

I'd like to see a new twist. Coral survives the bite. A turning point in that humans are developing an immunity to the virus so not everyone dies anymore. In reality, there would be people who are immune.

reply

I actually would too..although not a very popular opinion. But that's not going to happen..It's all bleak gloom and doom on this show.
I don't get what's entertaining about attaching to characters that will all be dead by the end of the show. The only survivors will be people we don't even know or care about...Why and how is that entertaining to lose all the original characters..? What's the point of any investment in that.?

..... Seems pointless at this point...especially with the lack of organic character development..People are behaving and making decisions with no logic or loyalty to their own characters.
They have all become just a plot device.

The showrunner was coy when talking about Carl's bite so I'm skeptical if Carl will actually die. We'll see. Maybe something's up like how Glenn didn't really die when the walkers attacked him. Some people have been mentioning another way that Carl may survive: SPOILER
Carl bitten by a human pretending to be a walker - The Whisperers
"They have all become just a plot device."
That's been the weakness of the show. I actually like Negan because of the actor's excellent performance, but they need to improve the writing and especially the directing of the show.

I couldn't agree more. It's been said that this is an "anyone's game" kind of show--that no one is safe--and people seem to think that's what makes it good and fun to watch, but I've never understood that. In fiction, we need someone to follow and root for. Otherwise what's the point? Character deaths can certainly be a good thing in a work of fiction, but there needs to be a reason for them or they cease to have value.

I'm with you on the bad characterizations as well. I mentioned that in another post on this forum. It's like the characters are just pawns at this point, for Gimple to move around and play with as he sees fit. I'm not even sure I would call them characters anymore, they're practically just bodies with names.

reply

I think it has been pretty well decided to kill off Carl.

reply

Another stupid decision on the part of the Walking Dead "creatives". They must not want people to watch anymore. Carl is one of the few interesting characters left.

reply

WHY did you post this super major SPOILER in the thread ? Not cool

reply

Carl's not dead yet..it is just an assumption on my part.

reply

I think Chandler Riggs and his father have already confirmed it. Personally, I think it's a boo-boo. Half the fun of watching a television series over several years is seeing the kids grow up. To get rid of them is disappointing.

reply

I agree that it would be a mistake to kill Carl.

Did I find Carl annoying when he was younger back in the days of the farm? Yes. But he matured into a sensible young man, given that he grew up around zombies. :D

I see Carl as the future of the show. I picture him becoming the group's leader if something were to happen to Rick, or acting as co-leader with his father. To me, he represents hope for future generations to survive in that world. For the show producers and AMC not to recognize this potential and to just kill him (if that is what they do) is extremely short-sighted of them, in my opinion.
