Jesus, this show finds greater ways to be stupid with every new episode.
This type of thing doesn't usually bother me, but this particular occasion infuriated me. What a stupid scene to have.

I said the same thing. They have repeatedly had chances to just kill him while he's standing there being the dick that he is...and they sit there and blather on and on with him. Just shoot the bastard!
And I'll add here that Gabriel is now in the same room with him...and I believe he has a gun too...and all he did was just stare at him.
I kind of feel sorry for the actor playing Gabriel. His character finally got to transition from being a coward into someone dependable...and now he's being written as a)Stupid, for trying to save Gregory, and b)Cowardly, for freezing instead of shooting as soon as he heard another voice in the room where he took shelter.
In a much smaller way, it's similar to the stupid crap they pulled with Carol's character last season.
Hehe...maybe it'll be later revealed that Negan possess a superpower that keeps him completely safe, but it only works if he's speaking. As if his voice lulls everyone into doubting whether or not they should kill him. Hehe...maybe that's why he talks so much.

shareBefore they kill Negan, they need to know how his people will react. Remember the last 2 seasons, "we are all Negan". Ideally they want Negan to be kicked out by his own people and the remaining saviors be allies. Rick said it in the speech, it is their world too if they wish to live in peace. When Rick went to kill Negan, he had let his personal grudge get in the way of the plan, and Gabriel stopped him.
shareNah, I don't buy that they need to see how the people will react. They had easy shots of the lieutenants , Dwight would be spared and he said he could persuade the people to follow. The people were subjugated and terrorized, they will come around.
shareI don't buy it either. The quickest way to figure out how his people will react is by killing him - The ones that fight back are the ones you should shoot at. Besides, they just led a horde of zombies into their complex. What difference would playing psychologists make if those zombies ended up killing everyone in the complex anyway?
