Shift From The Walkers

This show's horrors have become other living people like Negan. The show has started planning its thrills and threats to mainly come from groups of people threatening each other instead of the frightening zombies the show is built around.

They made the horror of Glenn and Abraham's deaths come from a maniacal killer (Negan) instead of the show's original threat--the walkers.

In the finale they did have Sasha become a walker as a surprise but still the emphasis was on the living people having a war.

This is both a good and a bad thing.

Good because I feel it is realistic. Groups not aligned will be fighting for supplies e.t.c. And the sort of people that will be still alive at this point will be generally people that are not nice. They will be the kind of people willing to do anything to get that extra bottle of water, tin of food, ammo box whatever. Sure, there will be normal people pushed to violence to try and keep them/their family alive but most will think nothing of murdering you for what you're carrying. So yeah, Humans pose a very real risk.

On to the bad, as we have seen as the seasons have progressed, the zombies have pretty much been relegated to looking cool and something for the good guys to dispatch. As they can be finished off with whatever is a hand, a stick, a spoon, a sharpened carrot stuck through their skull with ease, they provide zero threat. The only time they do provide a threat is when the writers rely on the ninja zombies, the ones that can appear from nowhere. And not in cool ways like from under mud, just walking into the shot. This is just lazy writing and I really wish the writers would stop relying on it but I don't think they are skilled enough.

Humans are very scary, but I want to see more zombies. That is the title of the show.

As far as I'm concerned they could get rid of the zombies entirely (and almost have).
For me, Post apoclayptic survival shows are more interesting with out the fantasy horror element. Its still a tough enough situation.
Trouble is 80% of all PO movies and series are infected with zombies these days.

I get your point but I am a horror fanatic. I want more zombie situations.

I'm bored. I want them to move on again. Seek out answers, rather than just survival.

They could at least throw in an episode where a group of them get caught in a zombie infested shopping mall and have to bunker down for a few days or something. I'm so monumentally bored of Negan. We've seen this already with the governor. AMC will squeeze every last drop they can out of this character though.

Yep. Definitely boring. And I don't care for Negan either. Just such a massively poor execution of his character. I don't like JDM's interpretation of him either. He's just so formulaic in every scene.

I just hope the White Flag Of The Dead book series gets made in a TV series some day. A decent adaptation of that will piss all over TWD. Likeable characters, nasty bad guys, massive and speedy plot progression. Basically everything missing from TWD.
