When (if ever) did ''The Walking Dead'' lose its spark for you?

The 'if ever' part being to emphasize this isn't a hate thread . Some might very well think TWD as it is currently is as good or even better than it was at its start.

At the start I was a very eager watcher. I recently dug out my S1 and 2 DVDs after some years and remember why I liked it so much at the start. I continued watching until almost through S6, then I gave up. In all truthfulness though I'd been going through the motions in viewing for quite a while. I even didn't finish S5 fully at the time and caught up much later.

So...I guess for my money I'd probably not go beyond S4. The rinse-repeat cycle of moving to a new location when the last gets overrun or they have to face some cartoonish villain was what really killed it for me though. I think at the start, the walkers themselves being the main threat, there still being some family bonds which made the characters more relatable, before the show's general formula set in and there was still some sense of the unknown and so maybe some hope of some kind of resolution etc. was when the show was best personally. Also, Andrea and Dale both rocked .

I was massively excited when season one was released, because I was a fan of anything to do with zombies at the time. The show lost that 'amazing' spark for me when half of season two turned out to be a snoozefest. I thought a change in writer would improve things, and it did seem to for a while, but as you say, the rehashed plot threads have gotten old already.

Going by the comics, they'll probably stay in Alexandria for a long time, but the finale of season six was another nail in the coffin. I am loving Negan, though, so I still think there's hope, but for me the 'spark' was lost quite a ways back.

Oh man, you've been hanging on a long time then . S2 was already showing some traits of the later TWD, it's true, but at least most of the characters we first began to invest in were still around and I also felt it finished very strongly the last couple of episodes.

I was teetering a lot in this last season, (7a), but i am hopeful it will come back again,(it has done this many times before; I feel it has lost it, but then it comes back strong)!

When they killed Glen. It was horrible. I missed most of season 7-A. I read books during some of them or talked on the phone. I hope 7-B is better, but the shadow of Glen is still there.

mid season 5, idk why but out of the blue it just stopped feeling like The Walking Dead it might be the quality drop like every season idk

I think the problem is that there are too many episodes in a season and that gives us room for more filler that no one cares about. Maybe I'm wrong but I feel that with 12 eps. a season would be perfect. Besides like you said the actual formula in the show is (for me) not good, even though i really like Negan, it is always the same (find shelter, stay there for a few eps, fight the bad guy, leave, find new shelter...) and I'm getting tired of it.
Answering your question I never tought the show was bad, boring at times, yes of course, but not bad.

Once they got to Alexandria. The show has been going downhill since. Not even looking forward to 7b. But then again 7a was horrible. Show would be canceled after 1 season if that was the starting point.

All my favorite characters are dead (Dale, Herschel Abe & Carol). Abes death was kinda the last straw of interest for me. Plus the first episode was spoiled that it wasnt even shocking.

So we are stuck with a pyscho dumbass sheriff, a smelly feral man and a horribly acted cartoon villian.

I just watch now to see the ending and out of habit. Kinda hope its 1 more season. The show has run its course

Lawrence of Arbia, he was an English guy who came to fight the Turkish

They lost me when they started giving a whole episode to just one person, it was so monotonous and boooring..

I was almost close to giving up during season 5 with Beth's story arc at the hospital. It was hella boring. It finally picked up when they got to Alexandria.
