Lizzie

Is she the real thing? Or just a copy?

It would be wonderful if she was the real thing. Croatoan was capable of many things, but he didn't seem to be god-like. I hate not having clear answers. Plus, Duke said something to Dwight about believing that Lizzie was real, so she could stay. There's also the scene where you could almost see Lizzie vanishing. That made me seriously wonder if she was the real child.

I thought it was very clear. She was an aether construct. Magically believing in her kept her alive when all the aether went away.

reply

So you say she wasn't the real thing. I was hoping I was the only one. But how come Dwight chose the copy in the end?

reply

What copy? His daughter was dead. Croatoan created an aether copy. Through a foolish plot Dwight was able to "believe her" either real or at least to stay as aether when the rest went away.

Presumably they are from a parallel earth and evolved with some differences to our earth. Croatoan indicated pretty clear that most of them do age and die, but their technology was more advanced at least in bio engineering and some were able to make themselves either very long lived or immortal barring accidents or fatal injuries.

Maybe Dwight made her real through his faith in her and by this she'll have a normal existence?!... I don't know.
And you're right, they never said what Audrey and her kind were. Gods definitely not, 'cause they could get hurt, they died and so on, but what exactly were they?

Dwight was told as long as he believed she was his daughter, he'd be allowed to have her in his life, I assume once the troubles ended, she became real.

reply

But the real one died...

reply

To me it doesn't matter what I think or not, it only matters what Dwight believes. I'm sure his neighbors had the same debate as here after knowing his daughter die then came back to life.
Now we do know Croatian used a "special" trouble to bring her back so it wasn't a Aether Bunny like William made nor any of the troubles used on the series. Maybe it was the real daughter or maybe she wasn't.
Only thing I know is Dwight got a happy ending, which he deserved.

I thought she vanished, then later when they were fishing, he was the only one who could see her, because he was the only one who thought she was real. Or maybe I saw it wrong...
