Charlotte and Audrey and the rings

I'm not sure if this was addressed before, but Charlotte is immune to the troubles like Audrey used to be. This was proven when Nathan gave her back her ring & he could feel her. But why, when she first arrived was she affected by Chris charm trouble? Also (maybe because she was wearing gloves) why didn't Nathan feel her when she was taking his blood?

But the other question I have is the rings. Nathan got his from his father which we believe Lucy gave to him. I always wondered if anything happened between Lucy & the Chief. Vince got Sarah's ring, which he gave back to Audrey. And supposedly all of the other previous incarnations had rings too since Charlotte said everyone in the family has had one. With Charlotte having the original. But why didn't Audrey come with her own ring like the others?

I have seen the show a few times watching again, so please explain what I am missing

It was never explained why Charlotte was affected by Chris Brody. That bugs me and do does the scene where Mara sneaks into the hospital and sees Charlotte in the hall. So why doesn't she recognize her?? As for the rings, Audrey never had one until Vince gave her Lucy's. Why other incarnations had them and not Audrey was not explained. All i can vome up with is yhat the incarnations would give these rings to friends or lovers and that then when they return as a different person it would be a key to their past.

Whoops meant to say Sarah's ring

The question that seems unanswered is the rings and why didn't Audrey have one with her when she arrived unlike Lucy and Sarah, when Charlotte said everyone in the family has one and Nathan gave back Charlotte ring

That was never explained why Charlotte was affected by chris Brody trouble. i too wouldlive an explanation for that! Also Mara seen charlotte walking in the hospital and never recognized her? Good questions yes why didnt Audrey have her own ring? We need another couple of seasons of Haven back!Yes

Easiest explanation? Lazy and poor writing.

We need another couple of seasons of Haven back!

No! I adored the first three seasons. It was all downhill after that. Let it go. Let it die with what little dignity it had left towards the end.

The ring question is easy, IMO.
Agent Howard would give the ring to the new persona. When Sarah gave hers'to Vince, Howard didn't have a ring to pass on.
The daddy ring was lost then stolen from a pawn shop by Hayley's mom. The Chief took it from her when he caught her.

As far as Charlotte, my only guess is she was immune to certain troubles and not by others. Audrey actually had aether in her viens thus making her immune to a lot more troubles.

Or, like William, people from the other world are people Nathan could feel, but not halfling like Jennifer.

Then, again, Mara & daddy were trying to make Troubles that would effect people in their own world.

Hi thanks for your thoughts on the rings. I thought about that as well the fact that sarah gave vince hers. But that still doesn't explain Lucy's ring. Which she gave to the chief and then nathan got it.so still have to ask why didnt Audrey have a ring?

As for Charlotte she was not immune to the new troubles that burst out of Duke because of Mara. But the chris brody trouble was old and Charlotte would have been immune like Audrey was to chris. I can only think this: that Charlotte noticed the changes in dave and then Dwight when they both chatted with Chris and she decided it must be a trouble and decided to play along (she was hiding her true identity back then).

What do you guys think?

reply

Yeah, I agree with you on Charlotte pretending to be effected by Chris Brody's charm trouble. Dwight and Dave were very obvious to her, plus, she seemed to know a troubled person when she saw one. Maybe she could sense the aether in them, Also, Croatoan was picking the troubles he wanted Duke to collect, so I think they had a way to just know who had what trouble.

As far as the rings go, the one that's hard to track is the larger, male sized ring that Nathan found in Garland's remains. After watching "Just Passing Through" and "Close To Home," there's no real evidence that Lucy ever had either ring. Garland found out about the Colton woman's (stolen) ring from Nathan (the one that Charlotte said belonged to her husband, Croatoan) and must have taken it, to hold for him, once he apprehended her and Nathan left to go back to his own time. That's how we can explain Nathan finding it amongst Garland's remains. Vince, however, gave Audrey the smaller, feminine style ring and said he got it from Sarah. I guess he never had the opportunity to give it to Lucy, so it doesn't appear Lucy ever had one. Hope that makes sense and of course, I may be missing or forgetting something.

Of course it was hearsay, but Nathan or the chief said the Colton woman must have stolen it from Lucy and later got Lucas back. I must not have paid attention as I never noticed Nathan ring being man sized. Agent Howard giving rings could make sense, except for after Sarah, Lucy or someone had a new ring. Charlotte made a point to say every one in the family had one. Meaning Veronica had one too. The only explanation after all those offered is, Agent Howard didn't get around or a chance to give Audreys hers.

Hope you can open these here. Just copy and paste into a new window. You can see that the ring Nathan wore on a chain, was large enough to fit on his thumb. Charlotte said it belonged to her husband, in the Power episode. His is chunkier looking than hers too.

I think what Charlotte meant, by saying everyone in her family had one, was that she, her husband and their daughter Mara had one. Maybe even grandparents, but I don't think one was created for each persona, like Veronica. I think Mara's ring was just handed off to each persona, when she was getting close to the answer. Mara may have actually been carrying her dad's ring with hers, in case she mananged to find him and bring him back. They would need them to cross the void safely.

Then, somehow she lost them or they were stolen. Sarah gave hers to Vince, so the only one Lucy may have had is Croatoan's. Then, Garland held onto it after getting it back from the Colton woman, because Lucy was about to leave anyway and he knew Nathan would take care of it. Whew! Of course, I may be all wrong, but I THINK that kind of explains their origins. I wouldn't put money on any one theory though. LOL. :)
