Mara

I really didn't like the Mara character. I didn't like the whole season with Mara in it.

I didn't like Lexi either.
Right, but she didn't last too long.

Lexi was very different from Audrey or the fifties version but I could take her a lot easier than Mara. The writers made Mara very one-dimensional and repetitive, and they dragged out her irritating part. It got old fast and stayed that way far too long.
I wondered if there had been a change to the writing staff, or if they had just burned out and were "mailing it in".
The body switching trouble was dragged out longer than necessary. It was like filler material. They tried to make it slightly humorous but tried too hard.

I am rewatching season 5 now and am up to episode 11. The fake/rougue CDC agent plot line is interesting since it has a little mystery involved.

I don't know what happened with the team that created the first 3 or 4 seasons.

The problem with Mara was there were two different versions of the character. One that was an evil and powerful witch in the Haven prequel comic book that cursed everybody with the troubles 'cause she hated humans and the other was the mild and powerless version we saw in the first part of Season 5. I liked Mara a lot more in the prequel and I feel if we had got that Mara it could have been so much better but the writers ruined it by taking her powers away and making her too humane instead of pure evil.

I didn't know about the powerful evil comic book Mara. Sounds like she could have been more trouble than the town could handle.

I just found out that Netflix doesn't have the full series. It stops where Duke floods the town with his black tear troubles after Mara's mother gets rid of Mara in favor of Audrey.

I am complaining to Netflix.

Yes. She probably would have been. For one, she had the power to lift people up into the air and set them on fire and could send people flying backwards without even touching them but without spoiling any of the final season for you they made Croatoan very powerful so I think a powerful Mara could have worked and would have been for more interesting than what we got.

Sorry to hear about that. I watched the final season on the SyFy Channel when it first aired and have all the seasons on DVD. Do you have access to the SyFy Channel where you live 'cause they are always repeating Haven here and if you press the information button on the episodes you should be able to see when Season 6 (5 Part 2) is on again next.😃

Thanks! Right now I just have the starter package and don't get Sci Fi. But now that I know about it I will look for a way to watch the final episodes.

Yeah, hypocrisy is rampant in society. I am pleasantly surprised when I find people who are honest about themselves. It would be so much better if everyone would look at themselves and their own faults. Christians have their own beliefs and rules of conduct they are supposed to follow. As far as non Christians go, Christians are supposed to love them, not impose their own rules upon them. If they would remember that and focus on being cordial and loving toward others instead of imposing their particular religion's code of conduct upon them I think the present cultural current of anger and reactionism would dissipate.

I think that I would have liked Mara a lot more if it didn't seem like she was just tossed in at the very end of the season and her story was going somewhere but with the final season her character didn't have much of a chance.

her character didn't have much of a chance.
Agreed. Her character struck me as pretty one dimensional, the dialogue between her and Nathan seemed repetitive and over done.
"I know you're still in there". "No, Audrey is dead, like you will be soon" etc.
I know talking to Audrey inside Mara played into getting Audrey back to the surface, but that exchange sounded like a skipping record to me.

I am looking for a way to watch season 6 (or season 5 part 2), Netflix doesn't carry it presently. I want to find out how things play out.

Netflix has put up the second half of Season 5 finally

You're not supposed to like her.
