Watchable ANY time of year but especially Christmas

Wonderful performances by Bruce Greenwood (the father) and Noel Fisher as the developmentally challenged son - the synopsis would have you think this is about the boy working to place dogs from a shelter at Christmas however, this is about the power of unconditional love to heal an aching heart, the power of love to slow us down and look at our lives. It's the story of a man learning to see more in the world around him than work, more than the baggage we carry from the past, a story of the pain of loss and the healing power of hope. It's the story of three dogs not just Christmas but also the dogs from Greenwood's past that have colored his life and the impact they had on him growing up and in a time of war ... it's about letting go, moving on and learning to let love help you do it. This movie is about family, friendships, community, pulling together for a better world - its about so much more than just a boy helping a shelter ... so very well acted, written, edited and watchable.

It is also the story of the shameful state of affairs in our nations shelters and the hard work of one young man to make a difference - and the power of his love to bring out the best in his community .... as with almost all Hallmark movies it will bring tears to you eyes and make you look at yourself and your own heart. I could watch this three or four times a year. Watch and enjoy.

Well said! I watched this movie for Bruce Greenwood, and I was touched by the heartfelt story and sincere acting. I liked the part where the TV anchor asks Todd why people should foster a dog, and he says, "Why wouldn't you?" with all sincerity.

The son and the father are played very well in this. I got something from a short way into the movie. The father needed the dog more than the son. Nice touch at the end when the ball suddenly appears from nowhere. This is Hallmark magic at it's best.
