Geographic issues, no spoilers

this movie was filmed in Baton Rouge, LA....I grew up there...so it was very cool how many sites of recognition there were for me.....however....

while there are so many things that could be picked out that made this a mediocre movie...my biggest annoyance...around 36 minutes in the high speed portion of the park scene there are mountains in the background....

again around 42 minutes in a cityscape has mountains.....and possibly ocean to the far left of frame....looks like the stock footage was Los Angeles.

and 49 minutes in the boys paperwork clearly shows that the trinity home is in brooksville, LA a fictional town but it further establishes that this film is meant to take place in Louisiana....yet seconds later another cityscape with mountains.

I understand the use of stock footage...its often easer to just pull archival footage during post....but for the sake of continuity....this was just sloppy...there are no mountains in Louisiana.

It takes place in Vegas. They show the landscape numerous times.

From IMDB
Filming Locations: Baton Rouge, Louisiana, USA

The bridge crossing the Mississippi River from Baton Rouge into Port allen shown in the film just after he leaves the lab...Having lived in las vegas as well I am certain there is no similar bridge anywhere around there...just as there is no large river that is shown moments later on a computer screen when they are tracking his call.

The boys paperwork shown while Gooding is in his car shows
Contact: 837 Westphal Ave, Brooksville, La 70228
Residence: TRINITY HOME FOR BOYS
residence phone: (225)555-4234 *225 is the area code for Baton Rouge

Additionally it lists
First: James
Last:Keetch
MI: E
age: 11
DOB: 02/11/2000
POB: Brooksville, LA

Finally, in the last few minutes driving down a tree lined street there is a green overhanging on a building...Regusa's Automotive 2714 government st in baton rouge. Which places Cuba driving south on S eugene st just past spain. Right next to baton rouge high school where several scenes were filmed.

So No...its not in Las Vegas....perhaps the stock footage I originally complained about was from there...but I would say its fairly clear that the movie is meant to take place in Louisiana.

Do some research. Just because a film is shot somewhere doesn't mean it's meant to take place there, kid.

while A FILM could certainly have been intended to have taken place somewhere other then where filming was done....

Do Research? like citing specific instances where the film states locations?

My notes on the boy's paperwork used in the film, referencing LOUISIANA as being the location of the boys home as well as the characters place of birth establish the intended location as LOUISIANA...not Las Vegas....

Unless each time he drove to the boys home roughy 27 hours had elapsed....Id hazard the assumption that the entire film was meant to take place in LOUISIANA.

The landscape Footage of Las Vegas, if that is in fact the city scape with mountains used, are the INCONGRUOUS elements I originally cited as troubling in my original commentary.

So perhaps, While you might have cleared up where that misplaced footage came from... I cant say with any certainty, since you didnt bother to include any geographical nor architectural references to support your claim, I maintain that YOU ARE INCORRECT about the intended setting.

Im sorry if your ego is too delicate to handle being mistaken....kid

They used the skyline (as in the buildings) of Las Vegas twice. The mountains are, in fact, Las Vegas.

Oh, and the script itself states that Lewis was a LAS VEGAS crime reporter.

Guess you lose.

The skyline of vegas twice....
The Mississippi river bridge twice...

The Script, Ive not seen nor have you posted, supposedly says he's a las vegas reporter....

The location of filming and the same printout USED ON SCREEN that youre using as reference to eyecolor in your thread say LOUISIANA.

We could go around and around....my initial point was simply that the directors should settle on one location. You have only strengthened my initial complaint that this geographical shifting repeatedly disturbed my viewing experience and made the film even worse then it already was.

change the printout to say Las Vegas instead of Louisiana, while you adjust the eyecolor you have fixated upon.

Remove the Mississippi river bridge from the scenes it appears in.

Then you can have your apparently much needed win.

Or remove the skyline scenes as all other aspects of the film seem to have been changed to indicate a setting in Louisiana.

My point remains the same....Youve done nothing but enhance it.

Yeah, the mountains threw me for a loop too because I thought the story took place in NYC.

I had no idea this movie was filmed in BR before watching it. But when they went to the zoo I kept saying wow that looks just like our zoo, but I thought it was just my imagination.

2nd clue was the MS river bridge, but what really made me know for sure was the Ragusa's scene at the end. I knew he was by BR high school.

I too was quite surprised to see mountains in the shots of the city skyline, given its Louisiana setting. I was even more surprised when I realized the footage was actually of my hometown of Salt Lake City!
