This movie answers a big question

"will found-footage films ever be good?"
(The answer is no)

I like Cloverfield (7.1/10 here on imdb, so many others also enjoyed it). Blair Witch Project wasn't too bad.

You're kidding or you're completely insane. Both of those were incredibly stupid and completely uninteresting.

I'm 'not kidding' and I'm not 'completely' or otherwise 'insane'. Just because your opinion differs from mine, or others, doesn't mean your opinion holds more validity. That would make you 'insane' to think so.

Cloverfield and Project Almanac. The Visit is getting good reviews as well.

I guess that is one opinion on the matter. Personally, as someone who grew up having her dad hiding behind a giant camcorder he'd have perched on his shoulder every birthday, Christmas, and family outting or vacation...so I suppose I have a bit of a positive bias and fondness for home movies...I absolutely love the genre and have yet to see a movie filmed in this style that I thought was just garbage. I didn't think that Project Almanac was as good as it could have been but I don't blame that on the way it was filmed, I think the casting director dropped the ball when it came to choosing the right cast. I saw Earth to Echo and really enjoyed it. Cloverfield was pretty good and I don't think there is one yet but I would love to see an apocalypse themed found footage flick, maybe with zombies, or two separate movies.

I have wanted to be a writer since I learned how to do it, and one day when I can start taking some university classes I have decided that I want to write young adult fiction and also learn how to write screenplays. One of my dreams is to write the script for a movie and get Oren Peli to produce and maybe even direct. I know that not a lot of people like his movies but it seems like most people agree that his very first movie 'Paranormal Activity' was a game changing film and is one of the most realistic horror movies to ever come out, right up there with 'The Blair Witch'.

If the amount of money made by the most recent found footage movies is any kind of indication, it seems to me like found footage is here to stay...so long as they keep making money, they will keep being made. Who knows, this could be a good thing for you because surely with enough time and practice, the greater the odds are that someone will finally make one
that you actually like! So see? It's a good thing that these kinds of movies keep being made! Don'tcha think?

I hated project almanac and Project X, but maybe I am just becoming an old foagie. It's wasn't for the found footage style, just the stupid teens really.

I would like to a sequel to chronicle. I am a fan of the PA series and Cloverfield was good. Still waiting for a sequel as well.

You guys are crazy... Blair Witch is a masterpiece. Much better than paranormal. If you're looking for a found footage zombie film, I recommend [REC]

Not to be a dick about it but, why do you knew watching found footage movies if you don't like ANY of them? 0_o

reply

Probably because they keep coming out with them.

No, to you, yes to others.
Do you regard yourself as superior? To cast your judgement and expect others to agree, because you, the almighty one, has spoken.
I myself, tend to like found footage movies, simply because, I like the tension and fill in the blanks with my imagination.
So, I will carry on enjoying them regardless of your dismissive, childish and nonchalant critique (tongue-in-cheek with the critique bit).

I think movie is the wrong medium for found footage. Imagine the whole thing (especially this movie) in another medium, like - for example - streaming video, with regular episodes and so on. Places where you expect to find amateurish footage. Done right, this could be a milestone - unfortunately there are lots of potential pitfalls everywhere.

Anyway - it was mildly entertaining, I don't expect much more from your run-of-the-mill scary-movie.

I love found footage movies. Are they perfect? No, but they can be fun. Found Footage movies are very unrealistic in my view. Who would really run from a killer well filming? I just love going on the ride of FF especially "Mockumentaries". Hello, "Lake Mungo"
