how little the people who loved us understood us

there is a quote like that somewhere, i have seen it related to Sonic Youth but also elsewhere, rendered as

"the people who loved us the most understood us the least"


there are many ways to interpret this of course, for example you could say it is a sad commentary on understanding...

but there is another interpretation... that love doesn't require understanding.... people dont need to understand someone to love them.

the young couple reminded me of this. she basically is expressing this without saying it straight out.
