Didn't know who Andrew was...

until I saw this film. I'd also never heard Jack's Mannequin's (well, Andrew's) music before seeing this film either.
This movie inspired me so much (the will to live, the love story, the journey through it all). Andrew's music is amazing, especially with the meaning behind each song. "There, There Katie" had me at tears when they showed him writing it on the piano. Extremely inspiring documentary.

I have met Andrew many times and followed his music since the early days, it's good to see a new person inspired, that's one of his most famous quotes at concerts, "Chicago, are we insired? Let's get inspired." Andrew is amazing and such a hero to so many of us :D.

That's great! Out of curiosity, how did you see it? You definitely need to check out all of his music with Something Corporate and Jack's Mannequin.. It really is weird how a lot of it almost foreshadows what he went though... You should also listen to The Glass Passenger album because it was written after everything and really reflects it, particularly "Caves.."

As for "There, There Katie," it's now available on iTunes on the Dear Jack EP... He actually started writing it for her before he ever got sick and finished it while he was sick..

Are you positive about this? In the documentary he clearly says that he wanted to write a song for his sister for being so brave as to help him with the transplant. I don't understand how he started writing "There, There Katie" before ever being diagnosed and needing a transplant. I think you got some false info from someone or some website (unless you know Andrew personally).

To answer your earlier question...How did I see it? I saw a couple rough cuts a few months ago and I saw the final cut at the L.A. screening too.

Nice!

Yes, I am sure.. It's a pretty well-known fact with fans... If I'm not mistaken, he says he wanted to record it then, not write it.. But he actually wrote the first part of it before he was sick (I think she was sick or something - not sure with what) and finished it while he was sick... If you listen to the first part of the song, you can kind of see what I mean.. He wrote the first verse when something was going on with her, but he didn't really have the inspiration to finish it until she saved his life... That's also why he says, "Katie, it's a strange world, as I watch the tables get turned around..." Listen to the whole song on iTunes....
