Than Gaga for the lead role and I can see why she was the one they considered first. She is better looking and a vastly superior singer. A shame they couldn’t do it with her due to timing issues, the movie would have been miles better.

From what I’ve seen/heard Beyonce is not a singer, she’s an entertainer. There are MANY out there right mow that can SING better than her. (but Beyonce is a much better entertainer/show-woman).
I’ve yet to hear a recording or seen a video where she sings a song in a manner of a Streisand, a Roberta Flack, a Nora Jones, a nice pleasing voice. I am betting she can, and probably has, but I’ve yet to hear it from her. Can someone lead me to a youtube video where Beyonce sings a nice song? I do want to hear/see it, I want to hear her true voice.
Why must Beyoncé sing like anyone else? She has her own voice/tone. Saying that Beyoncé is not a singer is ludicrous.
shareIf you respond with that you either do not get what I am trying to say or just do not want to. Not everyone who makes a living or entertains people musically using their voice is a singer. Not in the truest sense. B may be a better vocal showperson than Lady G, may even be a better pure vocalist, but I have not seen nor heard evidence that she can SING. You know, do re mi fa so la ti do. Carry a tune.
Don’t get me wrong, she clearly is great in what she does, but there are many better SINGERS out there right now releasing vocal music. Thus, she may not actually have been a better choice for this role. Present evidence to me that she could have done exactly the same songs in this film. I do want to see/hear it in order to enhance my experience of what she can do. Right now she presents herself, at least on shows etc, as one kind of entertainment. I do want to see her sing a softer tune. just her voice singing naturally without 23 other people on stage and all the physicality that goes with it. Just stand there, grab a mic and sing Evergreen, or Superstar, or Oh Holy Night, or Don’t Cry For Me Argentina.
Then I’ll admit she too could have been a good choice for this role. (and again, hope she can sing like that).

shareIsn't the fact that the character doesn't have perfect looks a major part of the story?? Beyonce's generally accepted gorgeous aesthetic would make it difficult to buy into her not being given a shot based on her looks.
