They went to that bar right after he hears her sing at that drag show.

Some guy walks up and asks for a picture and then Gaga just gets up and hits him?

I was like "What just happened?" They didn't really talk about it, they just went into "ice the hand/knuckles" mode.

Was there an explanation as to why she just went psycho?

My only guess is that this was the guy he had broken up with on the phone but it didn't say. He didn't say it, she didn't say it, she didn't say why she was hitting this person we've not seen before.

There were a few scenes like that which are prolly the result of cutting scenes.
