Irony of Lady Gaga's Character

Does anyone else find it ironic how it the movie Lady Gaga's character begins as a soulful artist and then transitions to a pop diva, whereas in real-life Lady Gaga has transitioned to a pop artist to soft rock?

reply

In real life she started with soft rock, back in the mid 2000s, using her real name. She wasn't very successful doing that so she came up with the Gaga persona.

reply

It's ironic but it was made like that on purpose to show the rise of the blond pop icon.

This was a good movie overall but i had a really hard time accepting gaga's character transforming seemingly overnight from rock chick to disco diva, and a pretty unconvincing one at that. Can you imagine her character really being a grammy award winning sensation in the real world? I cant.

reply

Why could you not imagine her a Grammy winning sensation in the real world?

I do know that I previously never paid much attention to her because she was doing the whole outrageous diva thing that doesn't do anything for me. And I never really cared for the songs that she chose either. But a few years ago I was shocked when I heard her perform those songs from The Sound of Music.. I hadn't had a clue that she was really talented.
I suppose now she'll reinvent herself every few years..

I, too, dismissed her as a pop culture oddity, until I heard her sing the songs from "The Sound of Music", then got her CD of duets on standards with Tony Bennett. Unfortunately, she has too much talent for the low expectations of our time.

I think it seemed fast because it was edited like that, but obviously some time had passed. I would guess it's a fairly accurate representation of the music industry. You start out with your own voice, then they're asking you to use a couple of dancers, dye your hair and suddenly they've molded you into a completely different person.
