I mean I would assume Cooper made a three hankie romance about as well as he could possibly make it but I don't think that makes it great, and certainly not in the realm of masterpiece. I don't think anyone could make the cliches of this story seem fresh at this point and that second half is steeped in melodrama. Gaga is actually very good here, as is the music and concert footage, and the chemistry too. Don't get me wrong, it's a good film. But great?

Well it’s a remake so can’t diverge from orig. But if it’s best of other onez then it’s purdy good

The movie was kind of empty, but maybe that was the point. If it was, then Cooper did a good job directing. The final song just didn't do it for me either. But, again, maybe that was the point. Fame and fortune is an empty place.
