And where is this free medical care you speak of? Yes you can go get treated at an emergency room and walk out and just not pay them but you cannot buy the medication you need without money. And plus you'll owe the hospital and they add on interest to your bill.
Quit listening to the media and go visit real poor people and see how they really live. My uncle is disabled and guess how much money in food stamps he gets for the WHOLE month, $50 and $600 for SS. $600 is RENT money where we live. And when I was a kid my mother didn't get much more than that for the both of us.
I really think it's conservative propaganda. They really want you to believe everything is okay, nobody is living paycheck to paycheck, and people are taking advantage of the system. Which it probably does exist but I have yet to see someone that doesn't need help take advantage of the system.
Really just do an experiment and see if you can survive on $7/hr without any government help.
Your uncle is NOT disabled. He's probably getting benefits fraudulently like most so-called "disabled" are. There are a lot of good, well-paying jobs he can do. Stuart Varney, Neil Cavuto, that Gregg guy on "Red Eye," Bill O'Reilly are all on Fox News, they all don't believe the lies this movie is telling, and they all can't be wrong. Half of America that votes will vote Republican and all those people can't be wrong. Quit whining and man up! And tell your uncle to get off his fat ass. I troll a bit, but I am glad that people get angry a bit at what I personally believe, whether you do or not, that American capitalism is a failure for the overwhelming majority of Americans. Socialism as very successfully practiced in Scandinavia/Northern Europe is where I hope America goes in the future. Govt operates those places in a way that rewards true Christianity as in practice, in works, NOT the Satanic way it is practiced in America, cold, heartless, where many beliefs and practices of right-wing RepubliChristians - antiChristians - rule in business and in Congress; where life is designed to reward materialism and those few in society who do not need compassion, financial help, and who believe that a child with a life-threatening disease deserves to die MORE than another with the same disease, simply because the former's parents are working two or three jobs but can't afford medical insurance. At least half of the voting public at any time are tools of evil, prisoners of Fox News, who wash that evil away in their minds in church on Sunday.

shareIf your uncle was discharged from the military with an honorable discharge and is 100% disabled he is eligible for a non-service connected pension and possibly something called 'aid and attendance' if he can't walk, which would qualify him to receive from $1,300 to $2,000 a month.
I agree there are truly needy people but if you add all the benefits they are eligible for, from rental assistance, utility assistance, Obama-phone, Medicaid, foodstamps, VA benefits, etc. it is the equivalent of someone who earns through work of $25,000 to $40,00 annually. The real problem today is the working poor not the idle poor who come out okay when you add up all the 'bennies'.

Obviously you get your news from the RW FOX news...I have been blessed in my life to have 2 pensions from 2 Fortune 500 corps..but the jobs available like those are no longer available...The GOP has voted gthe jobs & transportation acts that would help create jobs & fix the horrid roads! And yes, many people welfare very much DO want to live that way, hence why there are more people getting food stamps than even attempting to get work...why many of them have ipads and iphones, trucks more expensive than the cars that many working class people own, central air, HD tv's, etc...

I think the OP is trolling because I like to think NOBODY is that stupid, but these days, who knows? But rather than engage in tiresome political arguments let me say this.
I have been poor in America and people do really live like this (it's not really that believable when they're played by really good-looking Hollywood actors though). I've never taken one dime from the government (unlike the average Fox News viewer who will collect more money from Social Security than he or she ever put into it), and I'm paying $250 a month right now for "free" "Obamacare", but it's more responsible than going around uninsured.
I've been to Northern Europe and far from it being some socialist hellhole, people are often happier there and they're certainly nicer (well, maybe not in France, but in Germany and Denmark).
If you have this incredibly narrow and ignorant of the world, then of course anything that contradicts it is "propaganda", but maybe the propaganda is what is causing you to view the great big, wide world this way. This is not a "liberal" political thing; it's a stupidity and ignorance thing. Turn off Fox News (or whatever causes this myopia), get on a plane, go visit Denmark, and actually talk to people there. Read a book on various economic and political theories. Figure out some way to pull your head out of your own ass. It looks (and smells) a lot better out here than you think.
