Daba

Daba most likely is supposed to be the devil. Clearly he is not a human, as he has no need for food or drink. He considers himself the good guy, of course. Because the soldiers' business is killing, as he says, he seems to think he is carrying out justice. He makes others think that he is God, which is a hallmark of the devil. Also, he divides people (diabolo=the divider), and has them kill each other: The Muslims, the first group of Serbs, and now the second one. When Vesko states that he cannot kill the devil with a gun, but with a prayer, he is shot.
The only thing that doesn't add up is that the outside world seems to be killing each other as well (as fighting is audible on the radio at one point.) Maybe the devil is present not just in Daba, but in the form of many Dabas.
