Obviously my expectations were way too high!!:(

I did like Leisha´s acting and the suspense, but not much else sorry to say.
I expected Gale to rise to the challenge, he could have excelled if he´d had more screen time and the screenplay had been better. I really wanted to see him as a monster!!
I´m dissapointed:(

TBH I thought the film "borrowed" a lot from Kubrick's Shining and also The Amityville Horror

Film wasn't bad overall

Half Irish, Half German - hated by all. But at least I'm not Welsh

Don't watch it!
Oh no!

I gotta say there is something wrong with these After Dark films. They start off good but halfway through every movie they nose dive. All their films are sub par to mediocre at best with the exception of Seconds Apart (2011).

Seconds Apart wasn't too bad.

The review for "seconds apart" isn´t great either, but I might watch it......I´m a hopeless sci-fi addict;)

Same thing every time. Movie starts with a young happy couple getting introduced to a new house by a broker, they move in and for some reason the husband works a lot while the wife is at home all the time, either because she's staying with the children or because she's "working on her music" or something.
She starts to notice horrible stuff happening, but of course the husband never being home has no idea, then the obligatory 30 minutes of "honey you're just stressed out" ensues and nobody believes her. In the end the husband is often killed and she makes it out alone.
I can't even count how many movies with this basic plot I've seen.

Same here, I watched Fertile Ground last night and I even said to myself "she'll probably end up quivering somewhere with a big knife and the husband will come after her with an axe or something". Sheesh. I wish these filmmakers could come up with something a little more original. Is it really that hard? I guess they're just too bloody lazy.

I concur with the majority, this was like a remake of shining with some minor changes here & there.

Wow like a remake of The Shining, lol. It has about as much to do with the shining as it has to do with Wayne's World. I could probably find more similarities actually.. Wow what people say never ceases to amaze me:P

Hey,I have an idea. Lets go watch a new straight to DVD horror horror movie then see who can be the most clever by saying its a ripoff of xxx movie.

Get some new material. Its a horror movie not a theatrical masterpiece..

Actually, Its a fairly decent straight to DVD Horror movie if you don't think like the people above^^, Let me clue these genious' in on something they're not old enough to figure out yet, about 97% of movies can be compared to others and could technically be deemed ripoffs by people like yourself. Not much is fully original anymore. Thats even less so with Horror. That doesnt make them ripoffs.

If anything its called a homage. A send up. Please stop doing this. Its annoying and childish to see comments like these in almost every Horror thread.

And how people can't see the obvious & act like a smartass even though they are blatantly wrong can also be amazing :)

BTW, I made a post similar to yours, there were people on "The shrine' board who were accusing that movie of being a rip-off of 'The wicker man', my opinion there was the contrary though, which I did express. So, you can't assume that most of us are that narrow minded :)

I agree that all movies have similar things, but the whole plot here is like 'The shining' except the twist at the ending. And I also said that there are some changes here & there, but the whole premise itself is the same as The shining.

Maybe it would be more obvious for you if they had started living in a hotel & not a house, like in 'The shining'.

The absence of love is abject pain.

Ain't seen it yet & my hopes are not even high.
I have not read any of the comments to confirm what i already suspect.
Just watched the trailer & the film looks terrible.
Ugly actors & actresses, cheap low budget effects, all set in a house.
I really do not understand why people waste so much valuable time, money & oxygen on such a pile of cr*p.
God,i am annoyed as hell now.Maybe watching the film will make me feel better.

The only people who think of it as a remake of "The Shining" probably never saw "The Shining". After watching "Fertile Ground" I can only say if only it had been a remake of "The Shining"

reply

It really wasn't worth even posting about..as you realised very quickly.
