Jude Law would be a better Sherlock.

I don't know if Guy Ritchie has read the books. But Robert Downey Jr is nothing like Sherlock Holmes. I like RDJ. I think he's a great actor. But having an American play one of the most iconic British characters is a disgrace. Not to mention the fact that Jude Law could have easily played a terrific Holmes. He's sharp, good looking, clever, and has that 'hawk-like' appearance that matches Sherlock Holmes. I have no idea why he was cast as Watson? He did a good job as Watson mind you. Despite the fact that he complains a fair bit. These movies are disloyal to the books.

That's part of the joke, isn't it? I think Ritchie was reacting to the Nigel Bruce kind of Watson, the fat old blithering idiot, and giving us the Watson Conan Doyle wrote, for once. He's an active man, straight out of the Army, young and handsome - the fair sex is your department, your natural advantages, Watson.

It's no more of a disgrace than a Welsh actor playing one of the most iconic American characters.

Let's be bad guys.

Who are you talking about?

Chirstian Bale as Batman.

You are sin.

reply

Or Daniel Day Lewis as Abraham Lincoln..

reply

Yeah I sort of agree with you. Even more with Henry Cavill playing Superman. We're just stealing all of your heroes.

reply

That's ok. We'll probably cast Tom Cruise as Tony Blair any day now.

You are sin.

reply

LOL!

I liked him as Watson all the same.
