The Background Scenery was so impressive.

The visual effects of scenery and costumes was brilliant and so vibrant. I thought I'd stepped back into pre-1900.

And the chemistry between Holmes and Watson was wonderful.

I thought so too.

Really? This kept taking me out of the movie. There's a few shots where the perspective is off, clearest when a single person is standing in front of a larger building, and then there's the lack of background movement in most of the shots. The ones that weren't painted looked like screensavers. I kept waiting for RDJ to accidentally stick his head through one of the matte paintings and the horde from Blazing Saddles to come pouring out.
