Terrorist Episode...

I wasn't going to watch this show anymore because it has gotten very dubious with it's topic matter, but I couldn't resist. Not very much useful information was provided, and the last suggestion for dealing with ISIS really, REALLY took the cake! For those of you who didn't see it and want to know what the suggestion was, here you go: The suggestion for how to deal with ISIS, was for the world to ignore them, and let them kill whomever, and however many they want and eventually, the problem will fix itself. I am not joking, that's what the actual suggestion was.

I just learned how to use the "Spoiler" button...

Yeah, I was like WTF!? This has nothing to do with "space, time, life itself". So this episode and the privacy episode was a letdown as far as what we have seen in prior seasons.

reply

Do nothing and let them become stronger and build a caliphate so that they can launch more terrorist attack oversea! Not to mention that the people living under their regime will be a slave to their ideology.

Brilliant! Someone give this guy a medal!

reply

Of course it is not perfect, but it is not like the current tactics is working that well...

reply

It might work on someone who is just doing terrorism.

ISIS is a more complex block though. They aren't just doing this so they can commit terrorist attacks around the world. That's just one of many sides to them. The main goal is to create a caliphate and make people go by the will of God (as they see him.)

reply

Get the eff outta my face with that nonsense. ISIS has ONE SIDE- Convert or kill ANYONE and EVERYONE who doesn't worship God the way they dictate.

reply

Tbh I don't find that suggestion that far fetched, I have pondered the same myself.

reply

As long as it doesn't happen to you or yours. But if it's someone else, sure let them die...

reply

I don't think you understand the core of the idea. It is the classic "should one die to save two" dilemma, and the answer to that question is not as easy as you might make it.

reply

I think I'm stupid or something... How is "let one die or two" applicable to allowing ISIS free reign to rape enslave and murder?

reply

The idea is that the harder you try to kill them, the stronger they get. The stronger they get, the more ppl they kill. Is it like that? I don't know, it could be. Isn't that the reason why noone has invaded north korea? It was also the reason why many ppl were against the war in Iraq?

reply

What a pansy solution!

Screw sending in Special Forces, I want an army of tanks, helicopters, and infantry after every last one of them!

reply

"pansy" isn't necessarily worse than the opposite of "pansy".

reply

That solution was odd to say the least, insane would be another word.
I also noted the argument of how to change people's minds, to agree with them and take it to an absurd extreme, they did a test to see if it works and supposedly it did.
But I doubt it would have worked on groups of people completely devoid of reason, those not wanting to defend their own but harm others for the sake of harming them, because they would have agreed with the absurd extreme.
Would a Nazi Gestapo soldier who has already murdered civilians, who did him no harm whatsoever, be deterred by agreeing with him and taking the arguments to an even bigger extreme then he suggests?

reply

yea I am skeptical to that method also. Not sure how much extreme you could make nazism =).

reply

This episode was a total letdown for me. I am not going to watch the show anymore because it's not related to science and space.
