Somewhat well made movie, but...

I kind of enjoyed this movie, and especially a bunch of the actors. However, a basic flaw for me (beyond the unlikeliness of many plot points, and the inelegance of the ending, with all the explanation necessary) was not having any characters I could really care about. Many have pointed out this movie's similarity in ways, to FARGO. In FARGO, the leavening of all the evil with the Frances McDormand character and her husband helped lift the movie to a higher level. Anyway, really enjoyed all the actors in this, but couldn't connect with or care about any of them.

Multiplex: 100+ shows a day, NONE worth watching. John Sayles' latest: NO distribution. SAD.

I missed the little clue at the title scenes where he said, "Did you ever have something that didn't turn out the way it seemed?" and thought it was real. Then...yuck! Not just some of it was planned and fake, but all of it. It was just too wordy, fake, and couldn't score a bedroom scene beyond a G rated level. Someone very prudish must have sponsored filming it.
