Isn't this just A Simple Plan?

A group of guys in the great frozen north get together for a get rich quick scheme and it begins to unravel on them?

No. The only thing they have in common is cold weather, and money.

"A Simple Plan" involved 3 guys, two of whom are doofus-level or close, fox hunting and stumbling on a plane that has crashed. Inside the plane is $4 million or so. Their plan to divide up the money, hold onto it for a time to ensure it doesn't get traced back to them, and then eventually start spending it, slowly unravels.

"Thin Ice" is all about a well-planned and superbly executed con game, where a team of grifters is going to rip off an insurance company in a scam where they file a claim for a stolen violin worth over $1 million, although they don't have the actual violin. They need a patsy who is a very well-respected insurance agent to sell the policy and the rider for the valuable violin to the person pretending to be the farmer.

Not all similiar.

Elwood: So often that you won't even notice it.

I think it's more like the lovechild of "A Simple Plan" and "Dirty Rotten Scoundrels."

One scene reminded me of "A Simple Plan." The frozen landscape also helped with the comparison.

Other than that, the movies are very dissimilar. This is a dark comedy about how greed always come back to bite you.

Of what's just happened
And what's been done
