IT WAS ALL MADE UP

THE MOVIE WAS ALL MADE UP, YOU ASK SOMEBODY FOR A TIME, AND HIT THEM WITH A MADE UP SOB STORY. THE STORY WAS ALL MADE UP SO HE CAN SELL A TIME SHARE. DID ANYBODY ELSE PICK UP ON THIS?

reply

A time share for what? The farm?

Respectfully, there was a lot more to the con/hustle than you are describing and sorry...no time share, no sob story.

Since it's not a documentary - Yes, it was "all made up".

I think the OP means the violin scam didn't really happen to Mickey. He was using it as a means to engage with potential timeshare customers.

Which is interesting food for thought. It is kind of hard to believe Mickey would fall for the scam on all parts - the hotel woman, the new employee, stealing the violin, and so on.

yes above poster got it right. my point is the con never happened. it was a made up story to sell the time share, as soon as he makes the appointment he ask somebody else for the time, and do you see how many times in the movie he makes up a story of stuff that has happened to his friends.

reply

Almost missed this! Thanks for the take! Love it!

I think the whole story happened like it showed. He was conned from start to finish. He just happens to be telling the story to someone, a true story, because that's what happened.

It occurred to me too, as a *possibility* but we can never be sure.
