Almost killed someone for butting in line!

And the Crimson Bolt's relply is you dont't butt in line! Frank is pretty much a psychopath along with Libby and with all the violence, this movie is hard to enjoy. It's no woner why this movie didn't get a wide release because I wouldn't recommend it to anyone. I thought this movie was funny at times but can't say it's good.

This has to be Kevin Bacon's best role to date..... Maybe XMen-First Class is equal, but his best role in a long time.

Add to that Captain Tightpants?.... I mean, Nathan Fillion!

The acting is fraggin' awesome. The storyline is actually pretty good. What makes this movie a good movie to watch is that it's like real life (maybe without the visions....), but his wife gets essentially taken by a drug king, he's sick of the crime and corruption so he becomes a vigilante w/ a wrench.

Of course, I liked Kick-Ass too.....

I'm not saying people should go around and beat people for cutting in line, obviously..... it's a movie!!!!!!!! But if a druglord is taken down in real life? I doubt many people would complain..... If a child molester was killed in real life, I'm quite certain more people than not would thank the person who did it.....

Frank is every bit as evil as any of the men he wrenched, shot, stabbed, or blew up.

Perhaps it's a message that personal vendettas and violent resolutions do not work for real life problems like it does in fantasy or comic books?

Not all movies were suppose to leave you feeling good.

It's brilliant in the way that you laugh at things you "shouldn't" laugh at and find levity in lethal situations.

This movie is quite a bit nihilistic. How can we "fight crime" if religious motivation, personal vengeance, lack of consequence all lead down the same path of destruction and death? How can a film about "super heroes" be grounded in such realities that fighting a "war on drugs" can only turn out more collteral damage.

Simple, neat, tidy and happy cannot be used to describe this film. That, to me, is the best part about Super.

Maybe I'm just a mess, but I found it most funny when he'd go OTT for something so small. This movie was made for the dark minded.

I went from laughing when he went to his car and putting the outfit on in the backseat to saying holy *beep* as he cracked the guy over the head with the wrench and then took a swing at the woman too. Never seen a movie pull off the tonal shifts quite so well.

"You don't butt in line! You don't sell drugs! You don't molest kids! The rules were set a long time ago!".
The most hilarious line. Loved the film, was hilarious!

it's a powerful and brilliant mess, like the movie itself.

^^THIS.

'The_NSA' hits the nail on the head. The whole point is that if you're crazy enough to put on a costume and try to literally fight crime the lines will inevitably be crossed. Violence doesn't really solve violence, and people (even good people - with good intentions) are not perfect. It's a dream that there could be an individual out there who could make all the right decisions, hand out all the appropriate judgement and justice for the rest of us. This movie is the antidote to the delusion that a person hiding behind a persona can even everything out in a fair way. Nobody is perfect.

uhhh
Because you're fked up psychopath

The two mains of Super are more evil than the villains. If you didn't see that you belong in a padded cell.

Carrotpie, just shut the f_ck up. Cutting in line is rude as *beep* and anyone that gives you the finger for doing something rude like that deserves to get their nose broken. That doesn't make you a psychopath you idiot.

Don't you think there is a slight difference between tripping someone/breaking his nose and bashing one's skull in with a monkey wrench?

People who are that rude as this guy described definitely deserve a quick punishment like getting punched in the face....but that should be it.

Of course the movie deliberately had the main character overreacting. It was meant to say that his ways (countering the crime with over-the-top-violence) are also wrong. But I think they just didn't do a very good job of it, as I practically hated all characters in the movie and couldn't care less about them.

reply

But that was a really rude thing for that guy to do!
