shareObviously you haven't been to China. I wouldn't consider India a threat with all their corruption and poor infrastructure. China on the other hand can get things done. Look at all the new cities and expansion--what they accomplished for the Olympics is an amazing feat. In the US if we want a road expanded it can take years. In China they can build it in 1/3rd the time--perhaps as short as a few months. Much faster and less obstacles. Here in the US we are going bankrupt with our spending. China is just getting started. Yes they have their challenges and human rights issues but they are making progress.

Most of these points are true, but the picture is somewhat more complicated than how you paint it.
The most important thing to note is that extraordinarily little can be accomplished with slave labor as well. That is what happened under Mao. Poverty and the limits on freedom were much worse, and the level of death and destruction dwarfs the injustices of today.
