Peter Jackson's script for part 6

Anyone else think that it sounded really awesome? I would have loved to have seen an Elm Street movie about that

reply

I thought it sounded great. I'm old enough to have seen all of them in the theater up until New Nightmare (it was gone so quickly I didn't even know it was in theaters)and can say Jackson's script sounds exactly like what the series needed at that point. I'd love to read it, or better yet for them to produce it. Would be much better than a sequel to the reboot.

I wouldn't mind if it was the sequel to the reboot. Maybe they can have it be part 3.

I really enjoyed the first film and New Nightmare, and all the others kinda smoosh together in my mind as inconsequential, but Peter Jackson's script brought something fresh to the table that I think really adds to the story. Most of the other sequels had such odd premises and irrelevant Freddy deaths that really didn't work for me and other non die hard fans.

At least Freddy VS Jason tried to fit into the universe without being ridiculous, but moment's like Kelly Rowland's monologue just made me cringe. It could have been epic but instead it felt like it was written by a 13 yr old boy.

Still though, I respect the franchise as a whole. But it obviously could have been better and the documentary shows us how. This is why I don't *beep* on remakes, because some stories have such potential but budget or creative differences can really destroy what could have been. I know I don't mind that there are a crapload of Alice in Wonderland films. Good stories can't be told once.

Kelly Rowland's monologue was improv, the scene in the script was wayy better. Orginally it was her saying to Jason "I don't belive in you! You're not real!" Like Nancy in the first nightmare, and Freddy appears behind her and says "wrong person" and kills her.

reply

Yeah, they could easily do it now and it would fit right in, because Englund has gotten older and Freddy's last movie (the remake) was laughable for some. Peter Jackson's script would be the perfect solution for resurrecting the real Freddy.

Agreed, cool idea.

reply

Agreed though an issue is that FvJ kind of already stole the thunder for the idea.

Yes - PJ's idea was first, but FvJ brought it to screen in a sense by having the the whole beginning being about Freddy not being strong enough at first to kill the kids cause they don't remember him.

The first time he goes to kill one he even says he is not yet strong enough. It's only after the scene where all the kids here Lori talking about him at the highschool that he gets his power back to kill again.

Frankly I think Peter Jackson's version would have been better.

What was Peter Jacksons idea?? I haven't seen it yet but I was curious.

reply

I'm watching this on Netflix right now. They talked about Peter Jackson writing a script and showed that it was called "Dream Lover", but they didn't explain it. Is this a cut version on Netflix?

Can someone please say what the story of Peter Jackson's script was? I'm curious to hear about it and why people would like to see it. Thanks.

Freddy has become a decrepit old man in the dream world and the butt of jokes to the children of Elm Street. The kids even take sleeping aids to intentionally go to sleep so they can beat the crap out of him for fun. Freddy manages to kill one of the children one day and it gives him just enough energy to begin making a come back.

I believe Taryn, Joey, and Kincaid were also set to make a return in PJ's script as dream police (insert Cheap Trick joke here). It would have been cool, but I honestly can't get through the leaked PJ script. Not because it's bad, but because on paper, it's rather confusing. I feel like a lot of scenes kind of end abruptly and the story is nigh-impossible to follow.

As it stands Freddy's Dead is easily the weirdest sequel of the bunch and that's saying something, given part 2 and it's...quirks.

Timmy - Where did you find the Peter Jackson script? I'd love to take a look at it.

reply

The PJ script and the one with the Dream Police are two different scripts. I don't think the PJ one has been made available.
