Greatest behind-the-scenes ever?

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of A Nightmare On Elm Street, but I do have fond memories of being very frightened by my first viewing back in 1984. That said, whether you're a fan or not, you have to give this documentary and all of its players enormous credit for their off-the-cuff honestly (sometimes brutal) about all the films, themselves during the making of the films, the problems, the conflicts, the successes, and the failures.

This thing rolls along at very brisk pace that is difficult to turn away from. It's a documentary style that is fast and compelling, and the many of tid-bits offered make for some "ah-ha!" moments.

The editing work with all the interviews -- how different player's perspectives on a single aspect are melded together in quick cuts -- is actually brilliantly executed, and makes even the mundane seem like compelling storytelling.

This documentary should probably be required viewing for any serious film student, I'd imagine.

The depth of discussion on every aspect of the film-making process is just deep enough in all regards to be impressive as all get-out, really.

The running-time of this documentary is very long, but by the end it seems appropriately so.

Clearly this documentary isn't for everyone. It is definitely for fans of the films, and anyone who is curious about film making in general.

If you fit into either of those two categories, you can't go wrong with this.

Great doc, but I can't believe they didn't cover the Freddy's Greatest Hits, the album of terrible music, mostly covers.

I loved it too. Honestly I thought the 4+ hours would, maybe, drag but they flew. I loved how comprehensive it was, the amount of detail and love as well. Completely bypassed my initial expectations! :-)

I have to agree that this is the best behind the scenes desire I've ever seen. I'm more of a Halloween fan, but I'll admit that their documentary, although good, pales in comlarison to this one! This makes me appreciate this franchise even more!
