Was Samuel L. Jackson awaiting suicide himself?

In the end Sam's character spouted some blips to God...wondering what he meant. I thought about how Jones' character said that he did not see Sam's...Could Sam's character have been on the tracks when Jones' jumped...could Sam's character have been trying to talk Jones out of suicide, and in a way talking himself out of the act, hoping that God would speak to him in the conversation, giving him the words to speak Jones out of the suicide, and in-turn giving Jackson some reason to continue on. I wonder if what Sam meant my God giving Jones the words...could it have meant that Jones spoke a greater truth to Jackson...a truth he was trying to evade after his attempt.

Movie was amazingly done...it definitely leaves a great deal to the minds of its audiences.
