RATING--NC-17?

Question for those in the know: was this submitted to the MPAA, and did it actually get an NC-17 rating? It is listed as R-rated on amazon, but if it does have an NC-17 rated version or a diretor's cut without dumbing-down edits to get an R, I would def prefer to own the original version! Thanks for any insight or feedback that is helpful. Cheers.

Tony,

There is only one version that was released and shown in select theaters, was on VOD, and is now on Netflix and DVD.

Oxymorons was not submitted to the MPAA, so it is unrated. Any use of the "R" or "NC-17" that you are seeing is actually a legal violation because the MPAA owns those ratings and studios have to pay the MPAA to watch their film and decide which rating is appropriate for their film.

We did not submit to the MPAA because we wanted to see what kind of distribution deal Oxy might get, then go from there. Ultimately it hasn't needed a rating yet, and that could change if a larger studio decides to re-release it. I believe that if we did submit to the MPAA they would come back with an "NC-17", due to excessive language, graphic themes and drug use.

But rest assured that the version you can buy on DVD and stream on Netflix is the one, directors version, uncensored.

Thanks and enjoy!

Thank you for your input! I appreciate the information; the film is listed as rated NC-17 on IMDB, that is where I got that info. Not sure who puts that information into IMDB but I know it is not always accurate (almost every Dario Argento film is listed as NC-17 and that's a bunch of b******t.
