And Sonam Kapoor is perhaps the only one in the cast who seems to be redundant even as the central character. She thoroughly disappoints as an actor. Her dialogue delivery is despicable in the comedic scenes and she overacts at points of high emotional drama.
"Despicable"? Wow, not sure I've read that kind of rhetoric from a professional reviewer. Guess you're emotionally overinvested.
I liked the movie, especially Sonam. Too bad it didn't make it for you. Oh, and I liked Amrita Puri, too.
By the way, was Alicia Silverstone "despicable" in Clueless? Or is that kind of terminology something you save for Sonam Kapoor.
Well firstly, i'm not a professional reviewer. I'm a part of the audience. I did the review as part of a movie review writing competition. Call it amateurish if you will, but I did think Sonam's dialogue delivery was 'despicable'. Same in I Hate Luv Storys. Ironically, I found her quite good in Saawariya.
I didn't like the movie. I thought they wasted great acting talent (like Abhay Deol and Amrita Puri, as you said). They were successful as an ensemble cast...but the screenplay of the film was just no-show.
No, Alicia wasn't despicable in Clueless. But I don't save this kind of terminology for just Sonam...there are many others who deserve worse. It's just that those movies aren't given that much attention anyway. No point wasting my vocabulary on them, is there?
I'm glad you liked the film. Few of my friends liked it too. I didn't. That's that.
PS: I think the songs are awesome.
